The entire vid is pretty interesting, but at around 5:40 of the vid it talks about something called “wakashudo”.
From the internet: The practice of wakashudo in pre-modern Japan was a deeply ingrained aspect of samurai culture. Young men (or Wakashū) were often taken as apprentices or protégés by older and more experienced samurai warriors, who would guide them not only in martial arts, but also in etiquette, poetry, and other cultural pursuits.
These relationships were often romantic and sexual in nature, and were seen as a natural and acceptable part of samurai culture. Same-sex love was celebrated in art, literature, and theater, and was often depicted as a beautiful and noble thing.

I think there were similar practices in certain Greek warrior cultures too.
I mean ancient Greeks were definitely sus with all the nude wrestling and stuff… but I’m kinda shocked about the samurai. I didn’t think they got down like that… in fact I thought they would’ve actually looked down on such weirdo creepy behavior.

A good chunk of the "Bushido" narrative is complete nonsense, and was hyped to level up Japanese national identity.
The only real Samurai of honor was the Hachiman, of the Thundercats variety. My dad would go around the house as a kid yelling "I am......HACHIMAN!" in a pseudo-Japanese accent.
I'm guessing all of the cultures had a lot of this. Out fighting and traveling for war, exploration or whatever for months at a time with nothing but men....I'm sure they just homo it up....prison mentality.
