The ASG knows the Phils bring in ratings.
Numbers and stats be damned.

I don't have the numbers but he feels like the worst derby participant in history. It would be more interesting if they gave a spot to the current minor league HR leader whoever that is.

From what I heard a lot of the big hitters didn't want to join this season.kobeunderbite wrote: ↑Sun Jul 07, 2024 5:23 amPhutureDynasty wrote: ↑Sat Jul 06, 2024 6:15 pm The ASG knows the Phils bring in ratings.

Pete draws the first round bye. No Logan O’hoppe?
Re: Alec Bohm selected for MLB HR Derby
Lmao. There’s actual video of Ozuna choking and shoving his wife and he’s being invited to participate in the derby while Bauer is still blacklisted.

I want this badly for Pete, it's the only 30 minutes of the year when he's relevant, his personal Super Bowl. I think he would take another L very hard

Not trading Pete while the team is within 5 games of a WC spot

Do you think they sign him to another deal or is this his last dance with the Mets?

I forgot about this but i was watching a Braves telecast last week with the announcers gushing over how great of a guy Ozuna is in the clubhouse amd beyond. Something along the lines of “everyone loves being around a guy like that”.

The Mets will make a fair offer for him at market value and if he wants back, he'll be back. If someone blows him out of the water or he wants out he'll leave. David Stearns is not the kind of guy to overpay for fan sentiment and nostalgias sake.
Personally will not be too broken up if he leaves. He's not the kind of hitter who will age like fine wine. But I'd take him back at a reasonable rate.

He has done everything he can. None of the serious options for Pres/GM were even available to interview until Stearns because they were under contract and their teams blocked them from meeting with the Mets. Stearns is easily a top-3 "get" in the entire industry. The pitching lab and development funnel that he built for Milwaukee is second to none.
And while biding their time the Mets did what they could to try to shortcut it with a massive payroll but also built out the farm nicely, bolstered by the fire sale last season.
Most importantly the Mets have very clean books. As irresponsible as things might have looked when they were handing out all of that money, other than Lindor and Nimmo there are no long-term deals on the team. Scherzer/Verlander money drops this winter. It's a very exciting time.

Trust that your farm system is being built the right way and trust that if a few of them are actually legitimate ball players you can help them with big name free agent acquisition when the time is right. It's not like Cohen and crew are cheap.
Not gonna say good luck because you're a rival, but if I were a Mets fan that's how I would feel and it seems you already feel that way.

I have no doubt that the Mets will be a perennial contender, even now they are in the thick of a crowded NL WC race. Most people don't pay attention to what Milwaukee does but the staffs they are able to put together on a shoestring budget on a year-to-year basis is crazy. If the Mets can emulate that with a tier 1A payroll they will be a Dodgers East.
