He loves going to games but he doesn't really have the patience to watch it on TV. He's pretty young though.

No, what's embarrassing is you having to force your unwanted opinion in any thread someone makes, it's also embarrassing how repetitive your boring ass talking points are. You don't have to respond, trust me nobody is even remotely impacted about what you think on any subject. You're a total embarrassment to yourself and everyone around you. Now go wack off to some more feet pictures you fucking LOSER.

By the way, I was never a fan of Prime. I really prefer my Metroid’s to be 2D platformers.

I actually agree with you but this has been in development for so long that I'm intrigued. Honestly it was a weak Direct but to be expected given it's the last before the new Switch is unveiled. It's extremely likely that Metroid Prime 4 is a launch title for the new Switch anyway and that they tacked it on here so that this Direct didn't look too underwhelming. They are going really hard with the remakes lately which I get because they are easy money makers.

I know we'll never see eye to eye on this but Nintendo won because it realized that what will matter most is making great games and not focusing too much on specs and hardware. Metroid Prime 4 will be a billion times better than No Man's Sky, Starfield, Mass Effect: Andromeda etc. despite being much "weaker" graphically.

Won what? Sony has the biggest market share in the console market, and both Sony & Microsoft make way more than Nintendo.kobeunderbite wrote: ↑Tue Jun 18, 2024 11:41 am

Last I saw the Switch struggles to run bad looking games at 30 fps. I feel like my brain is moving in slow motion when I watch or try to play something on Switch.

Switch is the best-selling console in modern history and has a decent chance to become the all-time best selling, so yes, Nintendo won. [Obviously in 2023 Sony jumped ahead when it released new models, while the Switch is at the end of its life cycle.]
More importantly until recently PlayStation consoles were sold at a loss with the assumption that software sales would make up for that hit while Xbox I believe still sells its Series S/X at a loss. That's because they prioritized specs over gameplay. Lots more profit for Nintendo on its hardware, while selling more units, and meanwhile its best selling games are virtually all first party unlike Sony and Microsoft who need third party studios to survive.
Nintendo is operating at zero debt, its console is more popular than ever, its games are more popular than ever, its IP's are spawning movie franchises and theme parks and are more popular than ever... it's over. Sony and Microsoft's revenues just hide giant operating costs and debt.

Microsoft just spent more money buying Activision than Nintendo's entire market cap is worth lol
MS and Sony have sold their consoles at a loss for at least the past decade, maybe longer, and yet they're still making vastly more money than Nintendo. They are also diversifying and bringing their previously exclusives titles to each other (and Nintendo's) consoles and to PC.
MS makes more than half of Nintendo's yearly revenue from the Xbox Game Pass alone.
Meanwhile, Nintendo is going after emulator creators for their 20 year old games lmao

Re: Nintendo Direct just went pretty hard
A couple of small problems for you here, in that revenue ≠ profit and Microsoft/Sony don't ≠ Xbox and PlayStation.
If Apple launches a console, would that division within Apple be considered to have a 3 billion+ market cap? lol
You do realize that Nintendo generated almost as much profit as Sony in 2023 and would have dunked on it hard if we had the numbers on profits for the PlayStation business alone?
The online subscription model is actually the only thing that is keeping Xbox from becoming a software developer exclusively, and that is still probably coming within the next 1 or 2 console generations.
Nintendo is by far the healthiest gaming company both in terms of financials and its standing as having the most popular and best-selling modern console with the most culturally relevant ip's.

Re: Nintendo Direct just went pretty hard
In FY 2023, MS made ~$3.5B more in gaming revenue than Nintendo made in total.
And that was before they completed the purchase of Activision.
