Heading on a trip tomorrow for 11 days, so I'll be on a little less. I'll be watching hoops whenever I can and commenting on stuff I watch.

I made the mistake of doing a bunch of lawn and yard work.
Now my body is a mucus factory.
Sad scene.

You'd think as Milkweed I'd have a better constitution against basic allergens.lettherebehouse wrote: ↑Thu May 16, 2024 1:28 pm

Yes, about 2x a week now since moving back to Indiana.
The local school isn't great shakes compared to my old schools, but it's fine because I'm definitely winding down my super-hollowed BJJ career (joint issues).
Honestly, I'm in a sort of student/teacher role at the moment. Without bragging, I'm a little better than the owner/main instructor, at least when my body cooperates.
The cost is extremely cheap (relatively speaking) so it's worth it to me just to work out with the bros and all that, but if the teaching stuff becomes too normalized I'm asking for free membership in exchange.

Good for you and that's impressive that you're better than the instructor.Bush4Ever. wrote: ↑Thu May 16, 2024 2:01 pmYes, about 2x a week now since moving back to Indiana.

Seems you have your future plans figured out well enough. You're still able to roll but you can teach too.

Yes, BJJ in NY/NJ is several levels above BJJ in rural Indiana lol
I didn't. I'll check it out.

My buddy just finished a large shop on the back of his property that he has made into a MMA style gym. It looks awesome. He has some people over to train a few times a week.Bush4Ever. wrote: ↑Thu May 16, 2024 2:01 pmYes, about 2x a week now since moving back to Indiana.

He still fights occasionally so it's a nice way to have facilities right on your own property.

And yes, the older I get the more and more I want to minimize travel time and the other fidgety pieces to training that become more and more of a drag.
Especially in rural Indiana, the "best school" is going to be the school (that meets a basic standard) you can actually get to in a reasonable time.
I'm not going into Indy or Fort Wayne for that stuff at this point in my life.
