25-Year Orlandoversary: Daly Gets Final NBA Win as Magic Even Series

On this day 25 years ago, Daly picked up his final NBA coaching win. Daly coached the Orlando Magic past the Philadelphia 76ers in Game 2 of the first round series, 79-68.

The Magic were looking to bounce back from a Game 1 loss as they arrived at the Orlando Arena on May 11, 1999. They did just that by holding the 76ers to just 37% shooting while forcing 19 turnovers.

The Magic outscored Philadelphia in each of the first three quarters. At halftime, the 76ers had managed just 27 points. Offensively, Anfernee Hardaway led Orlando with a game-high 22 points.

Nick Anderson added 13 points in the victory. Darrell Armstrong and Matt Harpring chipped in with 12 and 10 points, respectively. Allen Iverson led the 76ers with 13 points, but on just 4-for-15 shooting.

Sixth-seeded Philadelphia would win the next two games back at the First Union Center to close out the third-seeded Magic in the best-of-five series. Including the postseason, Daly won 1,150 games in his 16 seasons as an NBA head coach. The last of those came in the City Beautiful on this day a quarter-century ago.
