If this happens, it immediately confirms that modern scorers are superior to Jordan, since the league intentionally moved the line in during his era to aid his game, while they intentionally moved the line more distant in this era to protect his legacy.

What difference would it make? So many players can easily sink threes from the hashmarks as it is. You'd also have to change every single gym in America to that dimension in order to train players to avoid the corners.

Todays players are so good that the league has to push back the 3-point line.
90s players were so shitty that the league pushed IN the 3-point line.

I don't think they need to change the distance of the non corner shots. I think that length is fine.
Removing the corners wouldn't be that terrible IMHO.
Corner 3 specialists would be rendered obsolete, which would probably remove certain players from teams that otherwise would be there.
To be honest though, I am a bit of a traditionalist with this. I like it the way it already is.

Widen the court by 2 feet and push out the 3-point line by 1 foot all the way around.
But, in the end, that would just create EVEN MORE space for players to operate. Players today are simply too gifted.

Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are dumber than that.

I don't think that's a bad idea either but they won't do it because it will reduce the amount of expensive seats around the edge of the court that they profit from. Money talks here unfortunately.Robceltsfan wrote: ↑Wed Feb 28, 2024 12:07 pm Widen the court by 2 feet and push out the 3-point line by 1 foot all the way around.

Widening the court makes it easier for players. Shrink the court and push back the 3-point line and the FT line.Robceltsfan wrote: ↑Wed Feb 28, 2024 12:07 pm Widen the court by 2 feet and push out the 3-point line by 1 foot all the way around.

Re: New 3 point line?
I don't like the elimination of the corner 3. That is just too big a change versus how the game has been played for the last 30 plus years. And personally, I like how the threat of the corner 3 forces defenses to stretch the amount of court they need to cover. Pushing out the line a bit at the top I guess is okay, but I wouldn't push it that much for the same reason. The game is more enjoyable when defenses are forced to guard more court. If you push it too far, and the 3 becomes significantly less of a threat, I believe the game gets more post oriented, and frankly, that is comparatively boring compared to the product today.

Jordan could never.
