Cats are bigger vectors for disease than rats, the 3rd biggest cause of extinctions among animals other than humans and mosquitos, and carry a toxin that’s designed to make animals drawn to them (which is why crazy cat people exist and why they are incredible hunters). Anyone who owns a cat has been exposed to toxoplasmosis, which is why you love your cat. If you have an outdoor cat, you’re an irresponsible pet owner and human. I did research for the American Veterinarians Medical Association and was required to carry a card of all the diseases I might have contracted from cats if I had to be hospitalized and it was the front and back of a normal business card in like size 6 font, I’d guess 60+ in total
quick google search debunks most of that. Its not a given that you get toxoplasmosis, and it usually has 0 symptoms.
People like cats because they are objectively cool animals. Wild cats are apex predators with incredible athletic abilities. Pet cats are the same but shrunken, friendly and cute. They have insane reflexes, jumping ability, coordination, retractable claws, night vision, and usually an aloof, confident demeanor. That demeanor makes their bond to you more meaningful than dogs, who are just wired to mindlessly and annoyingly love everyone they meet to the point of being needy and obnoxious.
Cats also clean themselves daily, dont need walks, eat less food, and can be potty trained in an hour with no effort. Just lock them in a room with a catbox for an hour and they are potty trained for life, even if you move the cat box elsewhere.
