Bush's Diablo 2 Thread

I just beat Uber Diablo (D-Clone) with each character, so everyone has an Annihilus. I swapped the best versions onto my Paladin and Sorceress.

The very last thing I can do in the game as an individual is beat Uber Tristram.

As I understand it, you "really" need three keys from each of the minor key targets so you can automatically get unique rolls to fight the Uber version of Duriel, Lillith, and Izual (otherwise you can reroll fights/locations you've already beaten).

I have keys from the Countess and Summoner already from other runs, but nothing from Nihlathak.

I won't be able to use my Sorceress within Uber Tristram (that I can see), since resistances are so high, so it looks like it has to be a Paladin job...and the recommendation is to switch to a Smiter build with a bunch of life tap and life drain gear. Luckily, I do have gear that can meet that build if needed.

I think everyone is getting retired, or at least taking a long break if I can beat Uber Tristram. That seems to be the ultimate accomplishment in the game.

I think after Uber Tristram I might call it a day, at least for a good long while.

I was originally going to get a new laptop and play Diablo 4 around Christmas, but I delayed it.

I only really play one game at a time, so if I was playing D4 on a new, much better laptop I'd probably give D2 a break.

The only things left after Uber Tristram would be maximum autismo things like The Holy Grail (no), Level 99 characters (no), and PVP dueling, which seems insanely risky to me in losing rare items (potentially) in a lost duel. I would PvP if there was some way to make sure you kept your items in a loss.

My Paladin (level 91) and Fireball/Frozen Orb hybrid Sorceress (level 90) are my magic find characters right now, my Paladin does Mephisto-Eldritch-Andy-Chaos Sanctuary-Diablo runs and my Sorceress does Baal and Nihlathak runs (my Paladin gets meaningfully stuck on his second wave because of the Magic immunes and doesn't use a Nature's Peace ring for Nilly)

I'm going to create a new character, but this time only playing one at a time. I'm probably going to make a Javazon, since I seem to have the magic touch with getting great Amazon items and have pretty much all the best Javazon items already.

I'm probably never playing a Druid, Assassin, or Necromancer again though. Paladin, Sorc, and Amazon builds are the most interesting to me.

Nihlathak isn't dropping shit for me though. I've probably done 50 runs of him and haven't gotten one key, or *any* useful uniques or set items. I might end up just buying the portal items so I can try the Ubers that way to finally close the book on my Paladin (who will be doing the Ubers).

Did you start them on ladder or non-ladder?

All my characters have been non-ladder. I didn't know all uniques could drop in non-ladder, but I guess they can. I know some uniques are ladder-only though.

I opened up my laptop to do a few Baal runs before picking up my daughter. Run 1, two teleports (albeit, blind teleports) in, and I ate shit from probably 20 Burning Souls at once, and died for the first time with my L-Sorc.

Closed the laptop and walk away

I only lost about 1.5 bars of XP and my on-person gold, so no big deal.

anyways, i recently put 750 hours into Baldurs Gate 3. Unique experience. Lots of spicy mixed-species sex scenes too.

I played Diablo 3 many years ago (and Diablo 1 many, many years ago) and enjoyed it, but I greatly prefer Diablo 2 to Diablo 3 (especially the itemization, probably for autistic reasons) and the general review/feel/vibe from the community of Diablo players I've interacted with is that Diablo 4 is much closer to Diablo 3 in terms of play and quality than Diablo 2. It seems that way from observation as well, and the story kind of blows IMHO (I've been spoiled on the story). I will play Diablo 4 eventually though.

As far as sex scenes go, the only woman in Diablo 2 I would really go out of my way to fuck would be the sorceress character, because she's hot as fuck IMHO. Anya seems like wife material though, and I'd fuck her barbarian-style with pleasure.

Akara and Atma seem like they would be fun and pretty cool/chill, but are probably too old (10 years or so my senior).

My niece and nephew slept the night at our house so my sister could do some things for herself for a change.

My nephew (age 6) started bombarding me with questions about D2 when he saw me play.

So I let him play some on normal/easy mode with one of my finished characters. He selected my Fire Druid.

He actually caught on pretty quick, at least with the core mechanics....he had an obsession with gemming socketable items and saving junk in the inventory.

I just finished a Fist of the Heavens Paladin through Hell Baal and reorganized my inventories into separate mules. The organizing inventory was like some form of nuclear-level autism.

My FOH Paladin is absolute Chaos Sanctuary melter though.
It's crazy fast with him, even at level 81. Can't imagine him at level 90.

I have two Paladins (Hammer and FOH), two sorcs (Blizzard and Light), and a Javazon all at level 90 or greater, with a turn towards magic finding autism (roughly 250-300 MF).

FOH = Chaos Sanc
Light = Baal runs
Blizzard= Mephisto + Andy
Java = Cows
Hammer = Other terror zones worth farming

I didn't do the Tunnels or Pit because I got a little burnt out and wanted more mindless farming.

I uninstalled the game to let my desire to play build up again, but I've been finding some very nice gear that I've been stashing within the personal stash of a bunch of mules.

The best recent (new) items I've found have been my first Highlord's Wrath, Death's Fathom, Stormlash, Arr-Face, and a pair of Warshrikes.

I finally started playing Diablo 4 for the first time a few days ago.

I enjoy it a lot.

What are the good and bad aspects?

Good

- It feels a lot more streamlined than previous Diablos. You level faster. You get solid gear throughout a playthrough and it's almost all specific to your character and his or her needs, so less grinding for gear; which you could argue is good or bad I guess depending on what you like to do. Now that I'm older I don't have the time to grind as much as young Phuture did with less responsibilities

- The map is all connected rather than being separated like its predecessors. You can walk from the Act 1 area to the Act 2 area without load screens

- You no longer need to carry belts for potions. Your character has an allotted amount of potions they can carry and you just have them on you as you play. They drop from the monsters in game very often too

- You can also get pretty creative with the way your character looks. The sex of the character, your race, hair, tattoos, etc. You can also essentially choose how an item you carry looks on your character

- The cinematics for the cutscenes are spectacular. They could have made this a movie

Bad

- No Paladin (for now at least, I don't know if they're gonna add characters in future updates/expansions). I'm playing as a Barb but the options are the Barbarian, Necromancer, Sorcerer, Druid, and Rogue (essentially an Amazon and Assassin hybrid)

- The boss fights feel tedious and drawn out. You're sometimes hacking at them for 5+ minutes before they go down

- The way the skills and stats work it makes each character's build feel less customized
