I saw the Mets were interested in JD Martinez.

Honestly don't really want him, it's very easy to imagine him hitting a wall soon. But for a 1-year commitment it would be fine. More important for the production of the team is Alvarez taking a step forward and hitting 30-35 HR and Marte being healthy.

Didn't realize he would miss half the season. What is the dollar amount on the deal?
Yes that is why there was no rush. Dollars not released yet, only that there is a PO for year 2.

Yea if it's a one year I would not hate it.

Anything more is too much for a guy definitely at the tail end of his prime, at best.

He did hit 33 HRs last season but sometimes stats can be misleading.

One year though is reasonable.

If he could somehow repeat his 2023 it would be great protection for Pete.

Nimmo-Lindor-Alonso-23 Martinez-Alvarez-McNeil-Marte-Vientos-Bader is a lineup that would dick down Spencer Strider even worse than the Mets usually do.

lol
I hear ya bro...The Steve Cohen era has been a huge success so far...In 3 years, they have had a losing record twice, and have one wildcard appearance...Very Yankee and Dodger like...
In the same timeframe, the Braves have 3 division titles and a World Series ring...Ebb and flow on that shit kiddo...

Bauer is right though. He got fucked. Dodgers should have let him pitch last year. Eating his $22m was weaksauce.

Oh I agree 100% he is getting screwed over. Way worse than Kapernick for example because I have zero doubt that Bauer could crack the rotation of every team in the league if not the top-3/4 of each team.

Kershaw was 2 years $10m, PO for second year. I am sure he will decline the PO if he is somewhat healthy after the season

Soler did pretty well in the end at 3/42. I'd hesitate for two years let alone three.
