Can someone please tell me WHO has LeBron "made better"...?

Talk about anything here.

Little kids create myths out of sport figures and turn them into something superhuman.

Adults realize that players are human and fail, quit, etc...even at the highest level of competition.

Obviously no high level performer fails and quits on a regular and reliable basis, but Jordan absolutely broke and quit before his first retirement, and didn't have the courage to actually build a winner from scratch (no more Phil/Pippen/Rodman protections!) after 1998, whatever you want to call that.

Most hero arcs are the rise, fall, and rising again. That's approximately Jordan's career, minus a gigantic failure in Washington and then as a "wise old mentor" in Charlotte you sometimes see in hero stories.

Jordan fans who say Jordan didn't quit are simply liars.

If it didn't matter they wouldn't work so hard to reframe his quitting as something else.

I was simply saying Jordan quitting doesn't imply anything (much) about his greatness.

Pretty much everyone has some period of time in their career when they weren't superhuman, and Jordan is no exception.

:L

On the court Jordan was closer to basketball perfection than ANY other player... ever. That's the only fact that matters.

...and as noted, if being a quitter gets me a seat at the same table with the likes of MJ, Magic, Favre, Namath, Lemieux, Phelps, etc. then I should be so lucky.

No, being a quitter doesn't get you a seat at said table, and no one claims that.

Great performance gets you a seat at the table.

Over a career span, one can combine great performance with quitting, both happening at different and various times.

With Jordan, the great performance was real, and the quitting was real too.

That's all. Nothing complicated.

Edit: Roberto Duran is probably a top 10 boxer in history, and he's famous for quitting in one of the biggest matches of the decade.
