Gotta take into considering you oy get Glasnow and Buehler for about a combined 25 starts

Not that it really matters for you since dodgers will have 2 nobodies come from the farm and become Cy young caliber.

Buehler has been recovering for over a year and a half, so I think he will be fresh and make around 20 starts. I dont know much about Glasnow, hopefully get 20 starts from him too but who knows.

Just saw that dodgers also extended Glasnow for 140 million! That’s a lot of cheese for a dude with a career 7 WAR.

Wonder if I can get odds right now on LAD not making the playoffs.

I might throw some cheddar on that.

Dave Roberts is a great regular season manager so they may win 120 games,

Then lose to the 85-win Padres in the LDS.

Sure.

It's hard to make the playoffs in baseball though and whatever the odds are currently for you guys making the playoffs is probably worth fading.

This ownership group has literally never missed the playoffs.

So you're due then.

It's more likely that you miss the playoffs than you win 120 games.

The Dodgers aren't much better than last year. Ohtani is a beast but he's replacing a very good DH - they only come out ahead by 4.0 offensive WAR if Ohtani repeats his 2022. There's a good chance of at least some regression from Betts and Freeman. Then in the rotation they swapped Urias and Kershaw for Yamamoto and Glasnow. They could bring Kershaw back still, but he's a non-factor in the postseason to begin with - but who knows if Glasnow will be healthy?

Are they the WS favorites right now? Definitely, but it's easy to imagine them getting bodied in the NLDS again depending on who has the momentum. They are not hugely improved from last season.

The hope is that the pitching peaks in October with Yamamoto, Buehler back, Glasnow, and Miller. But I agree with this playoff format they could lose in the LDS again. But Phuture saying they will miss the playoffs is obvious trolling. They won 100 games in a transition season last year.

That's the thing with the Dodgers and Braves, at this point by June the regular season has become a formality and you're just wanting to fast forward to October to see if another choke is in store.

Btw don't blame the playoff format. A legit team shouldn't shit its pants after 3 days off. Hasn't been a problem for the Astros.

@Titan18 can you explain the offseason the Cubs are having? Is the goal to get worse immediately?

I am not trolling about them not making the playoffs.

I am saying that their odds are so ridiculous that it's worth shading that bet because the value is probably great.

Decades ago I put 2 bucks on a 100-1 horse to win. It won. Anything is possible.

Looking more and more like the Counsel signing wasn’t to signify their desire to improve the roster and compete for a title but moreso the hopes that he will use his ability to get “more from less” to make the cubs the 2nd or 3rd WC team.

As of now the roster is significantly worse than it was end of 2023. They will likely sign Chapman and Hoskins and trade for a #3 starter to get back to just where they were with hope that Counsel addition will add 3-5 wins so they can lose 0-2 in the WC round against the Phillies

Exciting times for sure
