Why are we pretending that there is some question as to what the outcome of this will be? The only conceivable way Israel isn't the boot to Hamas' ant here is if it escalates far enough to involve Iran and Syria directly, which is extraordinarily unlikely.

This falls squarely on Trump’s shoulders.
Instead of playing grab-ass with the completely inconsequential UAE for a PR stunt, Trump should have used his YUGE deal making skills to forge an agreement between Israel and Palestine.
Pssst... Trump hasn't been in office in nearly 3 years fool.

Remember when you and your people were crying buckets of fear thinking Trump would lead us into WWIII...??? Fact is he's the only President in recent memory to keep us OUT of wars/conflict, while China, Russia, N. Korea and the Middle East Terrorists were ALL kept in check. There was peace throughout the entire world under Trump.

That's a fact... and since your boy Brandon has been in office the entire world has become unglued.

Only a dunce of the worse kind thinks it's just a coincidence that this is all happening under Brandon's watch.

I'm not nearly as well versed on the subject as you, but even still, I wouldn't say that... given the utter weakness of Brandon and his Administration, our enemies may very well be bold enough to get involved because they know now is the time to act (while Brandon is in office). Once Trump is in they know they're fucked.

Our enemies don't fear America and its allies with Buffoon Brandon in charge. I hope I'm wrong, but I wouldn't bet the house on it.

If Iran and Assad get involved, it will be world war 3, with the stage already set due to Russia and Ukraine. There will be no avoiding it.

What I think will happen is, Israel shortly begins to pound Gaza into oblivion, mostly by air but also via a ground operation that takes out their network of tunnels. We will see some significant IDF casualties as a result of the ground invasion, but proportionately nothing compared to Gaza's losses (but enough to make it look like Israel is taking losses, too). When the bunker busting begins, Hamas will understand that it is doomed and it will desperately reach out to the greater Muslim world for help. There will be strong condemnations from Turkey, Syria, Iran, etc, but ultimately Hezbollah will be too frightened of American air support to do anything more than fire a few missiles from the north. Yes Joe Biden is weak but Obama and his friends who run the country are not, their favorite sport other than golf is blowing up hoards of arabs in airstrikes. This will all doom any hope of Israel normalizing relations with Saudi Arabia for years and years, but the neocons will get to play out their regime change fantasy fetish in Gaza instead of Russia, and Israel will get some docile neighbors for once. Bibi will then step aside before the next election, that he would surely lose.

We need a un peace keeping force made up of mainly Africans chinks and Hindus. Preferably in the amount of 100k to be on the ground in Israel and Palestine. We also need a globally regulated administrative government.

Dan, the Bible says the Second Coming will occur when it occurs and we should live our lives and not worry about it. It says the pagans worry about tomorrow when tomorrow will take care of itself. Maybe you shouldn't worry about it so much.

Okay so I haven’t really followed the situation too closely but what was hamas end game here? Did they really think that Israel wasn’t going to turn Gaza into dust after they pulled what they did? I get they don’t give a shit about the citizens but what exactly are they trying to accomplish?

Either they didn't expect their operation to be as successful as it was (that they would meet more IDF resistance, thus not end up killing and kidnapping nearly as many people, which plays into the theory that Israel allowed it to happen on some level to provide a means to permanently end Hamas) or they received certain assurances from Iran that it is now looking like Iran will not make good on.

They hoped to spark a wider conflagration and scuttle Israel Saudi Arabia peace talks. They will likely fail at the former but succeed at the latter.

Sadat was initially surprised by Egyptian gains during the Yom Kippur War. It should be noted when the war ended the entire Egyptian Thitd Army was surrounded and Israeli troops were fifty miles fron Cairo and Damascus.

And that was the problem. Israel could have avoided this present day debacle by following up on her victories in the 6 day war.
For one she should have never given back the Sinai peninsula. She should have deported all Palestinians to that strip and let that become their homeland along with Gaza.

Is it even inhabitable? The old peace plans used to include giving the West Bank back to Jordan and Gaza back to Egypt but those countries don't want that tar baby.
