Re: Just saw Oppenheimer on IMAX
Just saw it a second time. The secret sauce is that ending. Goes so unbelievably hard. Of course, it’s set up in various ways throughout the film to do so. Brilliant piece of writing and acting.
It’s impossible to think about that ending and envision any other movie winning best picture, actor or screenplay. It’s peak cinema in one scene.
Next best scene is that speech he gave in the middle to all the trumpie types. Nolan flexed his old school indie filmmaking skills there

I’m gonna to see it again. I was sitting too close because the theater was so packed and I didn’t get there early enough to get the prime seats in the middle. The screen was so massive that I couldn’t even see the entire frame. Took me a while to adjust.
I can’t believe how good it was. I went in expecting a masterpiece and it actually exceeded my expectations. The explosion scene was flawless. Also had no CGI.

I'm definitely excited to see it. Anyone know when the home release is expected? I'll be driving through Cali next month maybe I'll go to one of the 70mm IMAX down there.

I just saw it. 70mm IMAX. I don’t think there was any benefit for it being IMAX. Even seeing it at home will be fine.elmerjfudd wrote: ↑Thu Aug 10, 2023 7:42 pmHim and Oldman were unrecognizable but phenomenal, maybe I’m missing something.
Downey Jr and Murphy were great. Damon a little miscast, as was Blunt (although she was pretty great at the end of the movie). Moline was a surprise.
Overall very good. The black and white reminded me of Good Night, and Good Luck.

i figured you would hate it because they didnt cast any blacks or transexuals on the manhattan project. Where was the representation?Shill Jackson wrote: ↑Fri Aug 11, 2023 8:03 pmI just saw it. 70mm IMAX. I don’t think there was any benefit for it being IMAX. I don’t believe I have ever commented of the topic at all.
I will comment that Florence Pugh has some unattractive boobies

Re: Just saw Oppenheimer on IMAX
Saw it again. It really shows how much better IMAX is from a regular screen. I’m glad I waited to see it in IMAX. Matter of fact, that’s how I’m watching all movies from now on (at least the ones that matter).
The 2nd time around I was anxiously waiting for my favorite parts of the movie. Particularly the bomb explosion, the gym speech, and the ending.

I wanted to see it in IMAX but it's been sold out or the seats are trash.
