Some edgy "sports guy" out there probably omits Mahomes.

I should have included Manning and excluded Bradshaw. He would be in my top ten along with Marino and Elway.

To be fair, it's hard to quantify where to place someone just 6 seasons into their career.

Those that place him in their top 5 now are basically saying that if he had a career-ending injury tomorrow, he's done enough work to put him in that pantheon.

I'm not saying he hasn't....it's simply tough to rank someone so early in their career.
Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are dumber than that.

Terry Bradshaw is about as overrated as they come.

2 Superbowls

2 MVPs

Really good stats for all those 6+ seasons. The peak is still going and it's been ridiculous.

He can retire now and still have an argument for top 5.

Longevity helps though so it would be tough to say for sure he's top 5 if he retired tomorrow. I am doing some projection with his ranking.

Bradshaw doesn't sniff my top 10. He's closer to 15 or 20ish likely.

If we are actually talking about playing the game instead of "being the QB for a team with a great defense, line, and legendary coaching":

1. Rodgers
2. Brees
3. Montana
4. Mahomes
5. Manning, Peyton
6. Manning, Eli
7. Marino
8. Brady
9. One of the geezer QBs (Bradshaw? Unitas?)
10. One of the boomer QBs (Elway?)

Brady/Montana/Rodgers/Mahomes/Peyton

Brees in the 15-20 range. Stat padder, choker, poor leader

Bradshaw - 40-50

Eli Manning has two rings, and directly beat the guy most of you have number one, twice, outplaying him each time.

You simply cannot have Brady number 1 AND Eli Manning outside the top 10.

It's internally inconsistent.

Brady at 1 illustrates you give 80-90 percent priority to playing on a great team and winning rings, which bumps Eli way up the list.

Eli outside the top 10 implies you give huge priority to pure skills/abilities/statistics, etc...in which case Brady is towards the lower part of the top 10 at best.

Bradshaw - 40-50
Brees also needed a dome to play well.

True, he also played in San Diego before that who usually has perfect weather.

Looks like he threw for 100 less TDs and 4000 less yards on the road in the same amount of games.

Would have been Jay Cutler in Rodgers/Brady weather.

I'll admit I've trolled once or twice on "Brady stuff", but illogical thinking does bother me, and sports is full of it.

This is obviously incredibly unimportant to me so I'm not going to go on and on, but the fact no one has successfully refuted even one of my points on this topic speaks volumes:

Let's look at the latest one:

"Brady is uber clutch. Brees is uber choker"

Career Playoff QB Rating:
Brees: 97
Brady: 90

"But but but...Brady made the playoffs way more at earlier/older ages, etc...!"

Brady had higher *single* season playoff QB rating than Brees' CAREER averages in only *six* of his 20 pro seasons, and only two of those seasons were meaningfully beyond the mark.

That's why I made the distinction between "QBing for a great team" and "playing the position of QB greatly".

One person played a majority of his playoff games in a temperature controlled dome

One person played a majority of his playoff games outside in harsh northeast winter weather

Trying to compare these numbers as apples to apples is surely “logical thinking”

Brady has never played for a team with a defense outside the top 17.

Top 5 - 7 of 20 years.
Top 10 - 17 of 20 years.

Just for added context to the discussion.

How many superbowls would any number of the greats have with that many stacked defenses?
