A comedy of errors lately (New York Mets)
Every night the Mets seem to do just enough to lose. Just one of those years it's looking like, despite all of the projections for this being a 100-110 win team.
You really can't overstate the domino effect-damage that losing Diaz had on the bullpen and subsequently rotation. In the end he was the one person we couldn't afford to lose, there wasn't the top end depth in AAA to compensate after Robertson and Ottavino needed to step up in leverage and usage. Quintana and Verlander's absences wouldn't have been nearly as damaging and we'd have set up guys to set up rather than close.
The offense has been spotty but more than passable, you just can't overcome these kinds of injuries to the pitching staff when you don't have elite depth.
That's the kind of depth we've been actively building but like it did with the Dodgers, it takes time to bear fruit.
Thankfully most of the pain points are on expiring or about to be expiring deals so this will be very easy to remedy.

Sorry bro, you were the one told us all that if not for the invincible looking Padres, you would have picked this Mets team to win it all...So now you are telling me that this team is so fragile that losing Diaz goes from that to 10 games behind the Marlins?kobeunderbite wrote: ↑Tue Jun 27, 2023 2:40 am Every night the Mets seem to do just enough to lose. Let me give you an example of a REAL team kiddo...When the Braves lost Mike Soroka and Acuna in '21, all they did was go out and win a World Series...They didnt snivel behind a $400 million dollar payroll crying about their losses. The reality is, the Mets are soft. Thier front office sucks. Showalter sucks. Thier farm system sucks. No heart, no fight, no balls, and no hope...
Fucking trash..
"...Sniffle, sniffle,,,but Diaz you see.."...Yea, right...

Re: A comedy of errors lately (New York Mets)
Soroka tore his pussy during the 2020 season, how was that supposed to limit their 2021 season after an entire offseason to address his absence? I've never seen someone cry more about losing an irrelevant player than you do about Soroka lol. It would be like me complaining constantly about the Lakers losing Avery Bradley in 2019
The Mets played a high leverage game with a top heavy roster and have been burned after threading the needle to perfection last season. There's no doubt that the Braves have more depth, that's why I knew they would win the division. Why else would I predict that, when the Mets have better high-end talent?
Rome wasn't built in a day, the Mets need time to replicate the Dodgers model as the Dodgers themselves did. There was no overcoming the loss of Diaz, it hasn't been possible to date.

And, sorry kiddo, you were the ones who anointed the Mets with the 2nd best odds to get to the World Series...And, if the loss of Diaz put the Mets in this kind of tailspin, it looks like Rome is gonna take about 20 years to build kiddo...
The Braves will run baseball for the next 10 years, forget about the NL East...Get used to the word Daddy...

Actually it was Las Vegas who gave the Mets the second-to-best odds to win the WS lol
Best odds to make it from the NL too

Growing pains for year 1. Will be firing on all cylinders next year with Ohtani and Diaz back.

True, this is the kind of year that will be very easy to flush with our financial might and the lack of long term deals on the books

...And, speaking of daddy...The Braves lost Michael Harris for a big chunk this season...D'Arnaud for a big chunk...Max Fried is still out...Kyle Wright is still out...And they are still bitch slapping these soft ass Mets.
I understand how hard this is for, but you know you really wanted to say The Braves model , not the Dodgers. Is there a front office that runs an organization as well as the Braves right now? Talent development with the right amount of veteran addition. Guys giving money up just to be a part of such an elite, best in baseball organization...
But hey, maybe the Mets should add a couple hundred million payroll, that might get them into wildcard contention...

Between he, Winker, Tellez and Adames, Milwaukee has a very punchable roster

This isn't a eulogy, it's an explanation of the events to date.zombiesonics wrote: ↑Tue Jun 27, 2023 1:22 pm Not even July and already with the somber eulogy on the Mets season.

Re: A comedy of errors lately (New York Mets)
I really don't think so, it's not his style. You can't blame Buck for 98% of what has gone wrong this season and in terms of the front office, everyone has expected the Mets to hire David Stearns as pres of bball ops soon as it becomes possible this Winter, they have been flirting with him for years. He's friends with Eppler, and Eppler is the only guy alive who has successfully recruited Shohei, so a GM change wouldn't make sense.
There's not a lot the Mets can do at this point other than get healthier and play better.

Scherzer rumored to be open to waiving his no-trade if a WS contender is interested in him this season.
