Most impressive MJ accomplishment ever...???
Re: Most impressive MJ accomplishment ever...???
The fact that someone that hasn’t played in 20 years and hasn’t been a relevant player in 25 years but still sparks so much debate and emotion on both sides of the fence is a pretty impressive accomplishment in my humble opinion.

This is a good thread of how Jordan Jocking Boomers operate.
You give Jordan a straightforward compliment, and they autism into a frenzy because it doesn't devolve into worship of the man.
It's quite literally the only basketball fanbase where the older fans have significant percentages of "peaked in high school" disease and autism.
When was the last time you saw an older Kareem fan do an autism? Ever?
Bird? Magic? Maybe very briefly in Bird vs. Magic debates, but it's almost always calm.
Dr. J? Ever? Big O or West?
Russell and Wilt? Maybe in a Russell vs. Wilt debate, but it's also almost always calm and straightforward?
You could literally combine all the autismos and glory days diseased fans of all players previous to Jordan and they probably wouldn't equal those types of people within Jordan's fanbase.

His greatest accomplishment was to convince NIKE to give him a percentage of each shoe sold that bears the Air Jordan name, a move that garners him four hundred million dollars a year in passive income.

Glad the board has come around to Bill Russell being a fraud.

Hey, you LeTots claim Pippen made Jordan, therefore it stands to reason Heinsohn made Russell... as they both entered the league the same year AND Russ produced much more with Heinsohn vs. w/out:Robceltsfan wrote: ↑Tue May 16, 2023 2:38 pm Tommy Heinson: Career 40.5% shooter

Russ with Heinsohn: 17/23/4/44%
Russ w/out Heinsohn: 12/20/5/43%

Um, yeah... I don't think so meatball. Bush didn't do a head-head analysis of the Celtics' rosters (from top-to-bottom) vs, their playoff competitors.vcsgrizzfan wrote: ↑Tue May 16, 2023 3:26 pmThe last time you tried to make that argument, Bush completely obliterated you TDK, as usual.thedangerouskitchen wrote: ↑Tue May 16, 2023 2:34 pmWrong. Sam Jones was Boston's best Scorer for a number of playoff/Finals series... Russell was a borderline liability on Offense. Hondo, Cousy, Sharmin... sure HOFERS with/without Russell. Heinsohn broke in with Russ (so you could argue Tom made Russ), and Howell was a premier NBA all-star before ever teamming with Russell.Robceltsfan wrote: ↑Tue May 16, 2023 2:28 pm
Bill is the common denominator.
Sam Jones was a role player for his first three titles. Howell only participated in two titles....he was an opponent for 7 seasons prior. Hondo only won 2 titles after Russell....one of those saw him average 13 PPG in the playoffs.
It was Bill.
at you making these guys out as scrubs that Russell raised to stars.
Russell was the Dennis Rodman of his time... only difference is no one in the league actually played Defense back then, which is what made Russ stand out. But the talent-level surrounding him was almost always superior to the competition Boston faced every year in the playoffs.
Anyone attemptying to argue that those Celtics weren''t the most talented team in the league (by far) for the overwhelming majority of their 13 season run is, quite simply, trolling, lying, or has a BB IQ of 2.

Jordan didn't convince Nike of anything... Nike pursued Jordan. In fact, MJ wanted to sign with Adidas but they couldn't/wouldn't match Nike's offer. As it turns out MJ "made" Nike, which was a fledgling company at the time (well behind Converse and Adidas). Now they own the shoe market... all thanks to the GOAT MJ.Sudanese Sensation wrote: ↑Tue May 16, 2023 4:55 pm His greatest accomplishment was to convince NIKE to give him a percentage of each shoe sold that bears the Air Jordan name, a move that garners him four hundred million dollars a year in passive income.

That's not even remotely the same dynamic lolthedangerouskitchen wrote: ↑Tue May 16, 2023 7:18 pm
Hey, you LeTots claim Pippen made Jordan, therefore it stands to reason Heinsohn made Russell...
Jordan didn't win until Pippen, didn't win after Pippen, AND Pippen won more without Jordan than Jordan did without Pippen.
Russell won as a leading player in college before their rookie seasons in the NBA, and also won after Heinsohn.
Russell won before, with, and after Heinsohn.
Jordan ONLY won with Pippen. Not before (as a leading player). Not after as a leading player.
An equivalent situation would be Russell losing in the first round three straight years, TH joining and the Celtics ripping off six in a row, and then TH leaving and leading a team like the 76ers or Knicks, and then the Celtics missing the playoffs entirely the rest of Russell's career.
Now get back on track...this thread is about MJ, not Russell.

Psssst... hey bush-league, no need for a dissertation. TDK was merely mocking you/others. Everyone knows Heinsohn didn't "make" Russell, just as anyone with a basketball IQ above 0 knows Pip didn't make MJ.
Having said that however, my point still stands: Jordan's 90's Bulls Dynasty was more impressive than Russ' Celtics Dynasty.

The Lakers squads from Russell's era were better than ANY team Jordan ever had to face in the playoffs.thedangerouskitchen wrote: ↑Wed May 17, 2023 9:27 am Psssst... hey bush-league, no need for a dissertation. And Russell beat them like a rented mule every time.

Especially the '67 version. Wilt, West and Baylor and Russell on his last legs led the Celtics to his final ring.Robceltsfan wrote: ↑Wed May 17, 2023 11:42 amThe Lakers squads from Russell's era were better than ANY team Jordan ever had to face in the playoffs.thedangerouskitchen wrote: ↑Wed May 17, 2023 9:27 am Psssst... hey bush-league, no need for a dissertation. You have to be a full fledged retard to think 6 in 8 years is better than 11 in 13, regardless of how you try to spin it. Yes, Russell had to win fewer rounds, but he also wasn't on a team that was miles better than the competition when he was winning his rings the way MJ was in the not very competitive 90s. There were no other remotely close to legendary teams in the 90s with the exception of Houston and they never matched up. He beat good teams, no great teams and his team was absolutely stacked relative to the competition.

Wilt, West, and Baylor would be a good team even in today’s era. Give them a couple of shooters and that team would be a problem.
Meanwhile MJ played against Karl Malone, John Stockton, and Bryon Russell.

If only Jordan had the privilege of beating 7 other teams for a chunk of those titles.Robceltsfan wrote: ↑Tue May 16, 2023 12:46 pmThe Celtics ONLY had "2-3 times as many future HOFer's" than other teams because Russell made them winners.thedangerouskitchen wrote: ↑Tue May 16, 2023 12:21 pmRobceltsfan wrote: ↑Tue May 16, 2023 11:07 am
He won the title from 59-61.
He won the title from 60-62.
He won the title from 61-63.
He won the title from 62-64.
He won the title from 63-65.
He won the title from 64-66.
Yeah, okay then... but he said 6 "seperate" 3-Peats, meaning win 3 lose, then win 3, etc. I just figured 11 in 13 years sort of speaks for itself.
BTW, since Russell was brought up:
Did you know 9 of his 11 Championships came when there were just 8-10 teams in the league? True story.
Did you also know that for 8 of his 11 Championships Russell/Celtics only had to win one (1) Playoff series to reach the Finals? Yup, that's true too,
And did you also know that Russell was taken to 7-games a whopping 10 times during his run (including 5 times in the Finals) despite most of those seasons Boston had 2-3 times as many future HOF teammates on the roster than their opponents? True again!
In other words by every logical and objective criteria Jordan's Bulls Dynasty was more impressive.
If Jordan were good enough to win 11 titles....Ho Grant, BJ Armstrong, etc.....would have been HOFer's too.

Re: Most impressive MJ accomplishment ever...???
Russell has a higher playoff series winning percentage than Jordan as well (27-2, 93 percent vs. 30-7, 81 percent).
Not just almost double the rings.
A greater majority of Russell's playoff series were played against (era-adjusted) good or great teams, and he still had a higher playoff series winning percentage than Jordan, who got to feast on mediocre teams early in the playoffs for a good chunk of his career.
