Why don’t baseball games play through the rain?

Post by zombiesonics »

WTF is a “rain delay”?

Football players will literally play through a polar vortex but these pansy ass baseball players can’t handle a little rain?

How do you think it would go over the first time a pitcher can't grip the ball and ends up breaking someone's face?

Baseball is a summer game played by civilized people who need precision and skill to perform their duties. Football is modern day barbarism played literally in replica coliseums where the likely winner is who can bench or squat the most.

Or the first time a batter loses his bat into the crowd and kills a kid.

Hell...that shit happens when it isn't raining.
Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are dumber than that.

Football is basically civilized war (field/land advancement, reaching the end zone = reaching the enemy capital, tanks = RBs, QBs to WRs 30 yd connects = Long Range missiles, lots of criminal activity, etc...).

I don't think much war gets cancelled on the account the rain.

By contrast, baseball is a sport-sport. It doesn't speak to our inner evolutionary lizard brain beast.

Feel like 95% of football games are played in sweltering heat or normal fall temps where it's still like 50-70 degrees. Late November-January seems to get you the occasional blizzard or frigid temps.

I love baseball but can admit it can be rough to watch. No reason to double down on that by making fans watch it in a downpour, pitcher barely able to grip and just throwing it to the box with little to no vision and a hitter unable to see the ball or grip their bat. Would just non stop walks, swinging strike outs, and weak ground balls with the occasional fatality from a batter getting smacked in the face from a fastball.

Couldn't they wear rain gloves or something?

Hell, they just swap tires for rain in F1 and that's a much more dangerous sport.

A wet baseball is heavier too unlike a football, all compromising the game and shit.

Except they do have rain delays in F1, like in the Monaco race this year, and this one last year:
