That's actually an interesting question.

I can see and readily accept a good life not having to be a happy one. Especially in the past.

But not being meaningful is a harder leap for me, at least on the surface.

Although sustained happiness is tough to achieve. Our brains dont produce enough dopamine. Any extended dopamine hit leads to a drought, which could make us miserable on a perfectly fine day. Kind of like a hangover.

i suppose a pawn is a chess piece with some meaning and value, but in the context of religion, there is no king piece on the board
