Now this looks lovely. I can totally see myself raising a family amongst these fellow Americans. We can share each other’s cultures, break bread over our wives’ baked dishes & glasses of Moscato as “the guys” hang out on the back deck talkin sports-politics-powertools.

I'm going alone and I'm staying like a block from Bourbon Street. I'm right there. I'm there for 3 days.

I don't drink but I love good food and good music.
Music is everywhere....just follow your ears.

If you're looking to drop some money on a great meal, I HIGHLY SUGGEST spending an evening at Dickie Brennan's Steakhouse right in the Quarter. It's probably my favorite restaurant in the country. Get the bananas foster for dessert.

The Gumbo Shop, also in the Quarter, is a solid place if you're looking for some authentic Creole dining.

Just outside the Quarter, barely into downtown, there's a good breakfast/brunch spot called The Ruby Slipper.

If you're into coffee or beignets, head down to Cafe Du Monde at the Riverwalk. They're a local chain....but it's good stuff.

If you like Oysters....Felix's and Acme are both in the Quarter across the street from each other.
Even though he has become kind of a parody, my sister said Emerile Lagasse’s was easily one of the best meals she ever had.
and I going to guess that Carl isn’t an oyster guy, though I could be mistaken.
Emeril’s was OK. There’s better places to eat there. Desi Vega’s in Lafayette Square is another solid steakhouse.

The worst food poisoning I've ever had was after eating oysters. Not a fan since.
I had that experience with crab as a kid and could not look at crab for a very long time.
I love a good oyster. The small Japanese Kumamoto ones are amazing.

Avoid the tourist spots..basically everything rob suggested.

Bourbon street is trash..walk around once for the feel but then get the fuck out of there...go uptown or garden district...commander's palace is where you should be dining...or Mothers downtown..
Enjoy a muffuletta and or a nice po boy
Trolley stop on st Charles is solid gro breakfast.
Audubon park, city park etc...

Dont get suckered into the gimmick stuff...like haunted tours...they all disappoint.

Check Tipitinas to see who is playing...live music..the real shit

It's quite clear my advice is the most valid and legit..everyone elses is basically copied from a tourist brochure....

Mother’s is fucking garbage, and ironically one of the more touristy spots in town. You’ll wait in line for 45 minutes for a shitty po boy.

Please….avoid Arty’s suggestions.

Who the fuck orders po boys at mothers?

Clueless

Cafe du monde is the most touristy place in new Orleans..lol at acting like it's a local secret...and your restaurant choice is as touristy as it gets too...jesus christ man.

Clearly I'm the only one here with valid advice.

Guys for po boys or parkway near city park
And acmenoyster house is pure tourist trap

Have you ever even been outside the French quarter?

Doesn't appear like it

Artie being an insecure asshole yet again. You don't have to agree with rob's suggestions Artie, but you are pretty much always a dick about everything, and this was no exception. You want to appear like you are in "insider" on so many things that you can't help being a jerk. I've been to New Orleans a few times and am definitely NOT an aficionado, but the French Quarter is definitely fun and worth a few days if you are there. If you are a local, of course it gets old after a while, but for Carl coming in for a mini stay, it makes all the sense in the world to spend a preponderance of his time there.

I LITERALLY said Cafe du Monde was a chain.

I’ve run the high wire in the Big Easy many times, my friend. Just because a place is a tourist spot doesn’t mean a first timer shouldn’t do it. That’s what tourists do.

Now I don’t know if it’s Karl’s first time, but my suggestions will feed him well. And the best music will always be in the Quarter, regardless of how big of a shithole it is.

Honestly, food is pretty much the only subject I would actually take Artman's advice on.

Perhaps art as well, if I cared about art.

He drew first blood as did kobeunderballs. Now you're trying to jump on the parade riding coattails as you so often do.

Nothing insecure about being correct and stating it.
My knowledge of the topic is superior..that's an undeniable fact...you seem to confuse confidence with insecurity and do it a lot.
It's safe to say you are indeed the insecure one here and come after me every time trying to chase down some shortcomings from your past...doesnymt work...

The best music is NEVER in the quarter.lots odms great music throughout the city
French quarter is just regular var bands catering to tourists..you've never heard of tipitinas or preservation hall or even the bon ton,
You're so incredibly clueless here

And chain and #1 tourist spot in the city are not the same thing

And there's another local chain that's not as packed with tourists and is superior.. but go ahead..send Carl to wait in line for inferior product

Two days ago, in probably about your 20,000th lie on this board, you said you never read past the first sentence of my posts anymore and haven't for months. Well, apparently you do.

And guess what Artie. Another lie in this last post of yours. In no way did rob "draw first blood". He simply stated his view on New Orleans. You barged in and basically called all his suggestions stupid. Not, "well, a lot tourists do that" but.... or something along those lines. Nope, just an insecure asshole trying to appear all knowing. You're a dink Artie. It is what it is.
