Are blacks not called "African American" anymore?

Obviously Im out of the loop of current American lingo trends (thank God) but Ramzpaul keeps making the joke in his videos that you can't say AA anymore, now they're called "blacks."

There was an old show I used to watch called Boston Public that had an old-old bigoted Jewish teacher.

Said teacher got in trouble for calling his Black students "colored", so to his (Black) Principal he said "It changes every day...first it was Negro, then it was Colored...then it was Black..now it's African-American...I should just stay safe and call them all "Black colored African-American Negros".

The Principal was not amused.

Yes, but I was trying to educate you nonetheless. All of those slangs you mentioned were enduring or you wouldn’t have mentioned them.
