1. A lot of the looters (according to police chief) are not native to the area... and would seemingly be here to gain attention more than anything else.
2. Apparently, they have extended to St. Paul and some nearby communities, although beyond the lousy area in Mpls. (yesterday) and St. Paul (today)... a lot of it is anecdotal. Tonight should be interesting.

I know businesses/people directly involved in the looting areas. I talked to one guy today who witnessed the liquor store/wine + cheese shop he works at be looted yesterday.

This pretty obvious incident of police brutality just so happens to coincide with the end of Ramadan. Muslims tend to get pretty worked up during Ramadan, while they are "fasting" (which really means gorging themselves at night and then sleeping as much as possible during the day) and so the uptick in violence from those adherents to an already violent religion typically increases. With the large Somali population in Minneapolis, this is pretty much a perfect storm.
