Sony really does suck at doing a third Spiderman movie...

Sam Raimi Spiderman 3 - One of the worst superhero movies of this generation. Just a mess and now used as a joke in other Spiderman movies.

Marc Webb and Andrew Garfield Spiderman 3 - Never got made because they screwed up the first two so badly. The movie was teased and was going to feature the Sinister 6 but nope, Sony screwed it up.

MCU Spiderman 3 - Will never happen and we're left with Sony, whose track record sucks, to pick up their own pieces.

MCU needs to keep their top cashcow in Spidey on board and Sony (as Carl said) needs Feige to save them from their bad previous history.

It's a mutually beneficial relationship and hopefully the fan backlash as a result of this news will make them figure shit out.

It looks like they really may not work things out. On the one hand I get Disney not wanting to use Feige's very valuable time with a franchise they would earn 5% of, on the other Spider-Man and his associated characters unlocks so much for them and they own the merchandising rights to Spidey to boot.
