Neil deGrasse Tyson pissed off a lot of people with this tweet...
Is he being too insensitive? Is he wrong? Isn't he just confused why people rush to change gun laws when other preventable deaths are happening at much higher numbers and nobody is freaking out over those?

Guns are the only thing we're not really allowed to do anything about. Two planes hit a building and killed a bunch of people and we made sure we changed everything to attempt that from happening again. We try and make cars safer every year to keep people from getting into accidents. We changed the lids on Pill bottles because some little kid got into them and OD'ed. We provide shots for people in hopes it keeps them from dying of the flu, etc, etc, etc. When something becomes a problem we try and solve for it...except with guns. We're just supposed to accept that this is the way it is and they are not part of the problem.

Neil deGrasse Tyson used to be a liberal cuck until he got MeToo’d. That experience redpilled him and turned him into an alpha.

Are there not already heavy regulations and efforts being made to address those, though?
Sure, there are regulations for guns too - the difference is guns largely serve zero purpose to society so these are needless deaths that we choose not to address for political reasons.
Cars and doctors are a little more essential to society and unfortunately accidents will happen.

This country was founded on the defining principle of the populace owning guns.Dagger wrote:Are there not already heavy regulations and efforts being made to address those, though?

Only police and military should have guns. Then we’ll be safe.

Yes, and society has not evolved at all since. Slavery was pretty big when the country was founded too, and women couldn’t vote. Should we go back to those too?LeBronMonsterDunk wrote:This country was founded on the defining principle of the populace owning guns.Dagger wrote:Are there not already heavy regulations and efforts being made to address those, though?

Don’t answer those, I already know what the disturbing minds of AG think about those subjects.

Guns are bad. So government should send men with guns to take your guns and shoot you if you don’t comply. Common sense.

Slavery was one of our biggest mistakes, we should have picked our own cotton. And you think allowing women to vote has been a good thing for the country?Dagger wrote:Yes, and society has not evolved at all since. I'm trying to find a graphic I saw recently that shows leading causes of death vs what people search for vs what the media reports on. Huge disparities between the first 2 and the media.Madnessssss wrote:I've posted the exact same point on this board before.
He was 100% right, and it's one of the biggest problems in America.
None of us are ever gonna die by a terrorist or mass killer.
All of us will die by stroke, heart attack, cancer, car accident, medical error, flu or suicide. Those are the only real problems worth discussing and trying to improve, in terms of safety

It amazes me that generally smart or analytical people like Fagger can be this simple or absent minded when it comes to these issues. Just absolutely no vision, no foresight, no critical thinking. Just pre-programmed NPC group-think regurgitation.

I would like to see the daily deaths caused by cell phones by themselves.

The point being...if it's fixable...we would have done something about it. Not sure the point of bringing up those stats. + Suicidal is self-inflicted...another useless stat.CleveTown™ wrote:nopeMacrotus wrote:wtf...so he wants to ban human errors, flu & car accident?...

It’s really not a question of guns being “bad”, it’s a question of unnecessary deaths occurring via their use.ripper76 wrote:Guns are bad. So government should send men with guns to take your guns and shoot you if you don’t comply. Common sense.
Cars aren’t “bad”, but their use resulted in countless unnecessary deaths.
Because of this, solutions were implemented. Side crash build standards, seatbelt laws, speed limits, median barriers, etc.
Workplace deaths were common in the past.
Now, virtually all of us have standards in place to reduce the chance of that occurring.
Solutions can and should be implemented in the same way, regarding guns.
However, the NRA fights tooth and nail to prevent this.
It doesn’t need to be this way.

All those regulations and cars are still many times more deadly than guns.Shill Jackson wrote:It’s really not a question of guns being “bad”, it’s a question of unnecessary deaths occurring via their use.ripper76 wrote:Guns are bad. We don't need cars, horses and bicycles work just fine and are what the founding fathers intended.
Ban cars. NOW!
