Van Gundy: Durant's stretch Jordan-like

Post by thedangerouskitchen »

Hahahaha... 15+ years after he retired and MJ is still "the" standard of supreme greatness for which every player is measured.

Top 10 two-way wings since you started watching? Top 5 two-way bigs?

Perimeter / Wings since I started watching (early 80's) ... in no order AND just off the top of my head ('cept for MJ at #1, 'cause I'm a Homer - )

1) Jordan
Pippen
Payton
Dumars
Eddie Jones
Stockton
Moncrief

Off the top of my head that's all I can think of...

Bigs in no order (Centers only):

Dream
Robinson
Jabbar
Ewing (very under-rated / overshadowed on Defense)
Walton

Moncrief seems like he was a beast. I'm thinking of giving this a read:

I remember (before he got injured) Moncrief used to give Jordan fits... Mike "got his", but Moncrief made him work harder than anyone else at the time. Dude was also a legit 20+ PPG scorer too.

I consider Duncan a PF, not a C...

Maybe so, but Durant's doing 36.6ppg this month. Kobe had both a 40.6 month and another where he averaged 43.4. He also had 2 more 40ppg months, so four total to Durant's zero.

It ain't just scoring... and besides, Kobe probably averaged 30+ shots a game during those stretches (no way he was close to Durant's efficiency).

Not "the" greatest... but similar to the greatest (MJ).

Neither Durant nor Jordan has ever had a 40ppg.

I don't like Kobe but prime Kobe was a better scorer than either one them.

Kobe played 13 games in January 2006. He shot below .450 FG EIGHT times and shot below .430 FG FIVE times.
