Does anyone here bet money on sports?

I don't. Partly because the house's take is probably as much or higher as any alpha I could create with the amount of thought I would be willing to give it.

Does the house have an edge. I always thought they just lined up 2 parties and took a small fee.

I know in poker the house takes the rake, so i am guessing in sports betting it's basically the same. So it comes down to skill.

You put up ten percent on your original dollar bet, some places 20 percent. The house gets the interest if you lose, if you win you get all your money plus the bet money back.

I do everytime in Vegas. I have a lot of fun with it.
It gives you a heavy rooting interest in a game you otherwise wouldn't care about at all.

I bet on the UFC when I was there for it. It was crazy how much more enjoyable/interested that made me in the fights.

I haven't done online because I get pretty addicted to gambling when it's that easy - or I did in the past. I just would rather keep it as a novelty of Vegas.
Futures betting is fun when there too because if your bet wins you can mail in the betting slip.
I usually pick the NBA/MLB/NFL winners and see how I fare.

I think vegasfraud is the only member who makes daily bets.

I bet on Bovada a few times a year on prop bets on NBA Finals games, wins totals, sometimes on Tennis Grand Slam/Golf Major winners. I don't bet enough win or lose a meaningful amount of money though. I waste a lot more money betting Powerball.
