"Bush, Riley, and myself empathized or sympathized with Mr. Holland." <<< Your words.

Can you explain, if possible, what degree of empathy do you have for Mr. Holland? How would you express your sympathy?
The security guard and property manager should apologize to him and be more sensitive in the future. I have said repeatedly in this thread the property manager should have identified herself and given the reason for requesting proof of his residency. I have repeated it so much it has become parody. Several posters have said no one else complained. We don't know that, Mr. Holland didn't know that, and so what?
So why should we excuse the lone example of someone not complying....and not only that, but then take it a step further and call his non-compliance vigilance against profiling?

This is utterly asinine...

Asked and answered:
Because he was the only one who stood up for himself.

What the hell does that prove?

If 9 people willingly give up their rights, that doesn't justify violating the rights of the 10th person.

They didn't give up any rights by complying in an effort to make sure their pool was being used properly. In fact, they helped the effort to ensure others were not using the facilities illegally.

This man hampered that effort.

Was or was not Mr. Holland occupying a space he had every right to occupy?

And it shows out of touch you are... or how bad/good of a troll you are.

The property manager and Shayne knew each other by first names. In fact, she was holding Shayne's mother's purse for her/him in the manager's office.
Why would she need to identify herself after he called her by her first name?

If this is the line of trolling you want to pursue... run with it. Just know that it's really fucking stupid and lower than anything even Artism has tried before. You sure you want to continue down this path... or would you like to change directions a 19th time?

Without reading the bylaws of the use of this particular buildings pool area, I can't answer that. There is mention of a sign specifically stating that they have the right to remove you. I don't know the particulars behind that either.

What I do know is that only one person chose to be divisive....and only one person chose to act as though they were being treated unfairly. None of the questions were incriminating, demeaning or discourteous.

He caused the problem.

No need to get upset. Mea culpa. I meant the security guard. But thanks for proving my point. The property manager knew he lived there. As you said "she was holding Shayne's mother's purse for her/him in the manager's office." As I have said, ad nauseam and ad infinitum, once he proved he lived there he should have been allowed to stay.

FACTS:

- There's a sign at the pool indicating that the manager can remove anybody from the area.
- Everybody there was asked for identification.
- Only one person balked at providing proper identification.
- The guy was black. The people requesting ID were white.

According to Bush, Riley and Sudan... only one of those things matter... and it only matters based on wild crazy kneejerk reactionary conjectures and assumptions and even outright lies.

Interesting.

What's wrong with you? Not a single person is arguing that he was removed because she didn't think he lived there.

He was removed for being an asshole. Whether that's right or wrong... I dunno. Just stick to the facts.

I tried to hold the fort, but a 5000 word essay from you on the subject would be very helpful.

There is not much I could really add to a conversation that is had with people that I know have little or no contact with African-Americans in their everyday lives. Closest contact that most posters have with African-Americans would be that through an Xbox controller when they play NBA2K.

You could've just stopped right here

A) no shit you have nothing to add

B) no shit we don't have interaction with black people, most of us aren't poor

C) if black people's participation in American democracy is suppressed because of voter ID laws, then what makes you think they have enough financial flexibility to afford an xbox and an xbox live account?

Dumbass

It’s easy enough: was he a resident? Yes.

Fuck how he talks or his attitude. Being an asshole isn’t illegal, trespassing is.

Any sort of argument after that requires a lack of vertebrae and low-t. Hence Abe’s existence ITT

Huh?

He wasn't asked to leave for doing anything illegal.

And NOBODY is justifying him being asked to leave.

If I make mistakes it is because I am not as emotionally invested in this saga as you and Rob. i haven't delved into it in granular detail. I guess it's a good thing you two gentlemen have found a cause.

"He was removed for being an asshole." Mr. Holland, go to your room .... I'm sure he's allowed to use the pool now.

That's a very stupid excuse. And I aint buying it.
