Can you please cite the part of the article where Mr. Holland is causing a disturbance or being unruly ? Mr. Holland was under no obligation to identify himself until she identified herself, her security guard badge which could have been purchased at the toy department at Wal Mart notwithstanding.

And his key...which could have been stolen/fabricated/whatever...so she deepened her questioning. DOING HER JOB.
Without ever properly identifying her.

And what was the point of the property manager removing him from the pool after he established he was a resident ?

What was the lesson ?

People should give their name and addresses to anyone with a badge merely because they asked ?

Does that make sense to you ?

Really?
His response was unwarranted....and he escalated it further with divisive language and a general need to not cooperate. His actions were likely making the other tenants uncomfortable, so he was removed.

Beyond that....this was simple attention-seeking behavior. And he got it.

Poor Black man asked to identify himself and show proof of residency. Everyone knows Black people can't afford any kinda of ID, which is why voter ID is both unethical and RACIST.

So in other words, the only time people of color are allowed to fight for their rights is when said rights are broken to the nth degree?

What's the matter with you?

Did the white people not comply?

You gotta ask yourself....why was he the only one that didn't comply?

Because he was the only one who stood up for himself.

What the hell does that prove?

If 9 people willingly give up their rights, that doesn't justify violating the rights of the 10th person.

What's wrong with you?

Can you point where in the article Mr. Holland used "divisive language" ? *

His language was colorful. As an adult male you certainly have been exposed to such language before, haven't you?

Ha.

Having 15+ hours to contemplate this thread and to think deeply about this issue... one thing is obvious.

There are many more (moving goalposts) smilies in response to bush, Sudan and Riley... and that obviously means they’re losing. Or something.

Sudanese is the same guy who was willing to physically meet another poster and fight the guy simply because it was suggested he might like penis in his mouth. Do we really expect someone with that fragile of an ego to simply comply to the commands of an officer, especially a female officer who moonlights as a rent-a-cop who he has no respect for?

C'mon now

I'm always interested in threads and topics that reveal the psychology of people in our little community.

This was a good thread for that.

Precisely because I am that kind of person I would have likely complied. This isn't about what I would do in such a situation. It is about what was expected of Mr. Holland in this situation.
