Because in the statement released by Barrett & Stokley they concede the black guy had no idea why he was being questioned.
Ummm... and...

How does that refute what I just wrote about everybody at the pool being asked for identification?

Whites. Blacks. Greens. Purples. Et al.
He had no idea others were asked for identification as Barrett & Stokley concede and consequently felt he was being singled out. Now we are going around in circles. I believe that is the same charge you lodged at riley martin.

I don't think you realize how absurd this comment you just wrote is.

My response is simply... so what? I don't see how that gives him the right to act like a prick. Apparently, he was the only one who acted like that. But let's excuse his behavior and blame everybody else. Makes sense.

So maybe we should end it right there.

[Note: And no. Riley was deliberately and constantly moving goalposts... For example, equating this situation in a communal pool to having the police enter your home and ask for ID in a thinly veiled and piss-poor troll.]

Did or did not Barrett & Stokley concede that they could have handled the situation better and informed Mr. Holland that
they would be having security on site, who would be asking for proof of residency. ?

That's part of it. The whole situation could have been defused if the security guard told Mr. Holland there has been a rash of people using the pool who are neither guests nor residents and consequently they are asking people who are using the pool for their name and address. If Mr. Holland showed attitude at that point I would join you and Rob in criticizing him.

To the retort that he could have defused the situation he was where he was allowed to be as a tenant. He had a right to feel put upon.

Go ahead and embrace random people acting like dicks and the denizens of social media playing the race card where it doesn't apply...

Maybe there's good for the race card to be used when it doesn't apply? I dunno. Personally, I think it muddies the waters when there are much more relevant cases to champion... other than by absolving some confrontational, condescending, victim-playing prick who just happens to be black and sitting by a pool.

Even if you remove race from the equation the security guard and property manager acted inappropriately. How absurd is it that after he proved he was a tenant he still had to leave the pool because he didn't establish his tenancy to the satisfaction of the security guard ?

Does that make sense to you, really ?

Do you really think that's why he was asked to leave?

Really? Candice or whatever clearly knew Shayne... heck, she was holding his mom's purse in the office for him for chrissakes. He was asked to leave for other reasons... being an ass?

Now whether that part is warranted is another question. But don't make up even more stuff when we do have SOME tangible evidence here.

Abe: That lynching may have been racist but questionable race card incidents have muddied the waters so I’m not sure.

Pretty soon all we will have left is NASCAR and hockey.

Swimming like golf and tennis has always been about access and not innate ability. Sorry for the sociological detour.

I defend cops doing their job. If it was that cops' job to make sure only residents were swimming at that pool....then I commend her for her efforts....and I feel bad that she, and people like her, have to deal with unruly people who won't answer a simple question.
Sitting on a lounge chair with headphones is unruly now LOL?
He likely wasn't unruly at the beginning of the quiet, boring encounter....but he made it that way by refusing to cooperate by answering simple questions.
You've got to be kidding, right?

Hell no I'm not kidding. The cop asked every single person there for their identification and proof that they were a resident.

Why is this guy the only one that posted a video of himself refusing to supply the information?

To our Black friends on AG:

On behalf of all White people, I personally apologize for the conduct of Abe and Rob in this thread, and will be more than happy to stand with you against them if they extend their racism into other threads.

Was she acting as a policewoman or security guard ? If it's the former Mr. Holland is under no obligation to volunteer any information at all. This is still the U.S.A. and not North Korea.
