Ask me Anything (I need your help)
I'm operating on about 1.5 hours of sleep spread out over the last two days.
I'm about one-and-a-half hours into my work day and I'm already zonked out.
I need to be mentally engaged. I have meetings from 12:30 to 3:30, so if you all can help me hold the fort mentally until then, that would be very appreciated (no clue what I'm going to do in the meetings though...cross that bridge when I get to it).
I started a new game of Pokemon Blue last night. I started with Bulbasaur and have already caught Pikachu.
Next on the docket for my usual team will be Abra, who is a bitch to catch. But I got to clean up the Viridian Forest and Pewer City Trainers first...but i can easily do that with just Bulbasaur (Pikachu to be used in those battles in emergencies only).

Thoughts on DC's all-time ranking?

1)If you could go back and redo one thing in your life what would it be?
2)Can you PM me a picture of your wife?

It depends greatly on the criterion, unfortunately.PhutureDynasty wrote:Thoughts on DC's all-time ranking?
I think if you time-machine DC around in MMA history, the only fighters I would probably choose to beat him are juiced Jones and Fedor in a ring (not cage). Peak Cain would also be interesting to see how DC deals with someone who can swarm and wrestle intelligently.
In terms of the volume of accomplishment, the guy started fighting name guys at 32/33, and had a stretch where he fought guys that were "merely respectable" to "solid" type guys (Mir, Nelson, his last fight in SF, Cummins, old man and light Hendo, etc...) where he probably could have been beating better guys.
But his stretch from Anthony Johnson 1 to Stipe is very arguably the best 7 fight streak in MMA history.
So it's one of those peak/prime vs. longevity and volume ideas...how much do you value the former versus the latter.
The ELO formula for MMA has DC 6th at LHW and 12th overall...if you value volume and longevity that strikes me as being fairly reasonable.

Seems fair, although I think you could debate he's the 2nd greatest LHW of all-time... no?Bush4Ever35 wrote:It depends greatly on the criterion, unfortunately.PhutureDynasty wrote:Thoughts on DC's all-time ranking?

1. I would be less serious/neurotic in high school and college about not being poor, being successful, and those sort of things. I secured "success" in one part of life, but traded off way too much against success in other parts of life.
2. Obviously I could. Why would I not be able to do that?

For sure. Though remember, he has fought the majority of his career at HW.PhutureDynasty wrote:

The thing is that he doesn't really have a lot of "good filler" fights at LHW although he has some great top wins.
Anthony Johnson x 2 (great win)
Gus (great win)
Old Anderson Silva on short notice (respectable win)
Old Dan Henderson (respectable win)
Volkan (respectable win)
Patrick Cummins (a "who cares" fight)
Guys like Wanderlei, Rampage, Tito, Chuck, and even Shogun will have a healthy handful of those types of wins simply because they fought more fights *and* didn't hop around weight classes.

So you'd say he's a guy who may not rank higher than certain LHW and HW fighters on a list ranking their weight classes all-time, but would rank higher than them if we include their careers as a whole? If that makes sense.

Yes, because of Cain his career was sort of inelegant in terms of how his fights and wins fell out over time.PhutureDynasty wrote:

But smart fans know he's the man. If he fights Shogun, he's going to absolutely brutalize him (that's literally the easiest stylistic fight he could have at the moment out of serious guys).

I did. Wife objected.LeBronMonsterDunk wrote:

So I put her in a crate. Cops objected.
That's mainly why I don't like cops.
It all comes full circle man.
