I'm a bit disappointed that nobody mocked me for my white trash house/neighborhood/upbringing photos. All that's missing is a car up on blocks to complete the picture...

Abe is trying to position himself as Annie (hard-knock life) from that shitty musical, so we can ooh and aah about how he overcame such dire circumstances to make it to a nice and comfortable upper-middle class life.
Lame.

Real estate is crazy now. I bought less than 3 years ago and my value is up 75k or so.
With that being said, most of you seem like you live in the million dollar neighborhoods. I cant hang

If only we had some sort of historical precedent for such a thing...
[Note: But seriously. That's awesome for you. Are you staying or looking to move? Obviously, if you're moving... you'll be getting hit by the rising prices, too.]

We've talked about moving. Not so much for the financial windfall of the real estate increase, but to get out of the area. It's just insane how much growth is happening here and the traffic and crime of course just keep getting worse. Oh, and taxes are horrible.AbeVigodaLive wrote:AlaskaHawks wrote:Real estate is crazy now. I bought less than 3 years ago and my value is up 75k or so.

I've got a brother that lives in Bothell and a good friend that lives in Sammamish. It's crazy how much the cost of living is up there.

I think I told you about my friend (although we don't really talk anymore) who lives in Seattle. I think she married into some money (her husband is from Manhattan and opened a bar in Costa Rica once). Last I heard, they were buying a house and the prices she listed vaguely were insane.
That was after renting a side-by-side duplex... and the other side become over-run with RATS.

Re: Post the value of your neighborhood
About 5 years ago, I was interviewing for a job in Seattle. I got pretty deep in the interviewing process where they were flying me up for interviews so I started looking into homes while I was there. To get a 3 bedroom, 2 bath house that wasn't a complete dump, you were starting at about $430,000. The houses had zero yard space and would be packed in tight together. It was insane how much they cost.AbeVigodaLive wrote:AlaskaHawks wrote:We've talked about moving. Not so much for the financial windfall of the real estate increase, but to get out of the area. On the news the other day they said the average Per hour you'd need to make to rent a 2 bedroom apartment in King County. Not even in Seattle necessarily was $36/Hr.Kingcarl24 wrote:About 5 years ago, I was interviewing for a job in Seattle. As far as where I live. I live a bit south of Seattle, but it's still crazy here.

My inlaws live in Puyallup and I love it down there. I think it's really pretty.

I remember that. With the home renovation... and the neighborhood and everything else you have going on... you glad it worked out the way it did?

Yes... kind of. I would have much rather turned the position down than not being selected but I'm glad I'm still in Utah. Since that has happened, I've been able to do quite a bit of stuff. My sister and her family have now moved here and my parents will be here before the end of the year. I'd be super house poor living in Washington and also having to ride a train an hour everyday on my way to work.AbeVigodaLive wrote:Kingcarl24 wrote:About 5 years ago, I was interviewing for a job in Seattle. Family time is more important.
So having your extended family closer + more time with the chicks in your life = better.
At least it would be for me.
