Once in a great while I'll ask people in the old-old neighborhoods what people have gotten up to since I've left.

Indeed, two of their three children ended up in drugs.

Pretty sad.

4b/2br 2k sq. ft. - Built in 1991

This is what you can get in downtown Charlotte, just south of Bank of America - https://www.zillow.com/homes/for_sale/C ... _zm/0_mmm/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

4b/4br 3,400 sq. ft. - Built in 2014

If you want to go out into a neighboring suburb/town on the edge of Charlotte - https://www.zillow.com/homes/for_sale/B ... _zm/0_mmm/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

The house I grew up in is arguably not as nice as Bush's old house.

If you want to go out even further from Charlotte, say maybe 20-25 mins from downtown you can get houses like this: https://www.zillow.com/homes/for_sale/3 ... 7_zm/1_fr/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

https://www.zillow.com/homes/for_sale/7 ... 7_zm/1_fr/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

5b/6br 6k sq. ft.

Legit mansions for $780k

I like all the people who normally brag about how much they make are also boasting about how they can't afford to live in California under the pretense that it's overpriced.

My neighborhood is in the $280,000 to $350,000 range. Just a few blocks away, you get to the high 6's. There's a sprinkling of a few million dollar homes nearby too.

Houses in and around my neighborhood look like this..

This is typical of the little nicer homes in the area....

Who said it can’t be afforded? I just said it was overpriced (and it is).
Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are dumber than that.

Wow.

It's almost like value is subjective or something.

Looking down the alley of my childhood home. I played a lot of basketball/baseball in that alley. Note the train tracks/railroad yard to the left.

LOL at Abe.

Woe.

Here's the house I grew up in. My parents still live there but they're moving this fall to Utah. The house used to be blue and had a basketball hoop in the driveway. Before I could dunk, I would jump off the wall and throw it down.

I really like properties that have some seclusion. It doesn't appear to be a bad place to live (from this one picture)

Used to play ball here all the time when I was a kid. I never knew who owned the house but we'd show up and play for hours...

I'm envious of places with lots of land. Presently we have a crummy condo near a hospital. It's not very pleasant to look at

It was a city lot, so 40' x 128'... look at how close the neighbors are...

Here's an updated shot of the garage. My dad really did well with that place considering its limitations. The next owners... not so much.
