AG Fight Bracket - Round 2

Post by LNS »

The first round had upsets, gut wrenching battles, blowouts, and wars of attrition. I expect more of the same in Round 2. Remember: the cream rises to the top.

You have 8 votes, please select the winners from all 8 matchups.

Matchup 1
Denali vs Abe

Both fighters are coming off of close victories, and both took a lot of damage in the process. Denali showcased her titanium chin and Abe proved he has a lot more grit than any of us would’ve predicted. Can his speed and athleticism overcome Denali’s durability? Or will she walk down yet another victim?

Matchup 2
House vs Max

Both of these gents showed they were a class above in their last outings, and now comes their biggest test to date: each other. House’s reflexes dazzled and befuddled in his last fight, and Max’s skillset won him the day. This is a classic matchup of natural abilities vs obsessive training.

Matchup 3
Artman vs Grizz

Artman’s bulk was too much for his last out-of-shape opponent, but this time he’s facing a genuine health nut. For a fighter that relies on physical advantages like Artman it’ll be a real test for him to face someone stronger like Grizz. Conversely, Grizz fought a cupcake last round and this time will be facing a real live dog.

Matchup 4
Bush vs Griff

Bush is coming off the best fight of the tournament, while Griff is fresh off his own battle of attrition. The physical advantages once again side with Bush’s opponent, but very few can match his skillset. Conversely, Griff brings a gritty side to his combative ability that Bush has yet to experience.

Matchup 5
Shill vs Olaf

Shill made short work of his last opponent and will be looking to do the same in Round 2. Olaf once again faces a size disadvantage, but has proven he can weather the storm and grind out a win.

Matchup 6
Riley vs Phuture

Coincidentally both of these fighters are coming off of battles that needed tie breakers. Will this be another close one? Or a one sided affair? The experience level rests with Riley, but the advantages of youth shouldn’t be undersold and Phuture is arguably the youngest fighter in the tournament.

Matchup 7
Gaskill vs XXX

Pure domination by both fighters in the previous round. This has “fight of the night” candidate written all over it. XXX brings his military training against a country slugger. Will XXX’s skillset be enough to outmaneuver the fury of Gaskill?

Matchup 8
KingCarl vs Elmer

Late replacement Carl absolutely humiliated his last opponent. Elmer won a close barn burner of a fight. Does Carl continue his dominance in Round 2? Or will Elmer once again show the grit and determination that helped him advance last round?

But I might not even make it to Round 3!

A large, angry black military vet chick from Houston is a formidable opponent. And for those paying attention over the past several years... Denali and I have had more than our fair share of dust-ups online.

Hell, she's about to barge in here any moment, clearly oblivious to my sarcasm, and start threatening me and everybody else who challenges her with violence.

I'm not sure I know how to vote in this thing. Do I pick the person I genuinely think would win the fight or the one I like more?

I honestly didn’t even expect to see her in Round 2. KUB was supposed to advance but Denali fucked it all up.

If you were a better promoter you'd play up the story better instead of making up abject nonsense.

My objective analysis:

Griff = Canadian
Bush = American

Griff = White-White
Bush = Off-White with a Pablo Escobar looking father

Griff = Rich, spoiled asshole because of daddy and grandaddy
Bush = Neurotic, weirdo asshole because he worked his way up and sacrificed

Griff = Bad-Boy (Arrest Record, Idiot Behavior Online) despite having a trust fund
Bush = Model Citizen (minus idiot behavior online) despite having a fairly violent childhood

Griff = Libertine
Bush = Socially Conservative Libertarian

There are all sorts of angles to play up here...you don't have to make up nonsense.

I’ve been 100% picking those I think will really win. But everyone votes in their own way.

Ok. In that case, Abe doesn't stand a chance.

(The real reason I asked was because of the Gas/XXX fight.)

Agreed.

Back to me and Denali... I've been a multi-time winner of "Whitest Poster" award from the North and I'm battling Madea, a large, angry black woman from the South. Basically, me and Denali are polar opposites in every way... physically, mentally, how we fight, how we write, comedy, brains, beauty, brawn, et al.

Did we not learn anything from the 1980s NBA? Rocky I and II? White Chicks? Soul Man? The Klumps?
