I found it interesting because Kareem's BIG individual work was almost exclusively done in the 1970s, which for me is kind of an empty space in my historical knowledge of the game (beyond obvious things).
Part of the problem there as well, is that talent was split because of the ABA until 1975 and that's when KAJ had his most prolific seasons. I don't know how that will fit into the mix either.

1. the premier big man of his era

2. A dominant two-way player

3. The only player in NBA history to be ranked top 10 in career points, rebounds, blocks, and steals

Analytically, he trails David Robinson in several categories and the Spurs won a greater portion of the head-to-head matchups versus the Rockets during that era. However, when factoring in the postseason, David Robinson does not match up with Hakeem Olajuwon.
Give us your guess on the final 8 order Y2K. Edit: and FPL too.
8. Russell
7. Garnett
6. Hakeem
5. Shaq
4. Duncan
3. LeBron
2. Jordan
1. Kareem
I don't think there is any chance on God's green earth that Russell is as low as 8th, but we shall see.

I read that thread now, and it seems that for the most part it's hard to find statistical evidence that he was all that great defensively.

If he's as true to his deep analysis as I've seen ElGee be, he will definitely factor in the pre and post merger years.

I initially had him as high as #5. Then I factored in his era and the lack of footage that we have to go on, even in comparison to Wilt Chamberlain. Defensively, I can't think of a single player that had a greater impact on the overall game of basketball.

And by a large enough amount that I think it gets him top 3 with this type of analysis. I think. :D

I could see that, although I'm guessing he'll have Shaq and Duncan higher than you believe, in other words, above Hakeem. We'll see.

I'd imagine this guy who wrote the article is very high on Embiid. I've yet to read it but he seems to like 2 way bigs.

You should read the introductory pieces and each of his scouting reports, although that is a longer term project. He's really good.

You could be right, was just basing it on his last public list (from 2014):

https://forums.realgm.com/boards/viewto ... #p41313867" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

He's watched a ton more tape since then, and has changed how he evaluates players a bit, so it's possible that the order will be much different.

I wouldn't be surprised if he has The Big Fundamental in his top three.

why does anyone care who this random dude has in his top 3 when kobe/magic/bird arent in his top 10
This... ^^^^^... although I have Kobe borderline Top 10 at best, your point still stands: This guy has zero credibility. Magic / Bird not even Top 10??

Shameful.

the article says best careers... you can say so and so was better in his peak or some random shit about efficiency to discount kobes accomplishments. but this literally says careers lol

kobe has a top 3-4 career ever

when lebron ends up number 1 and garnett ends up top 5 all time will you still be calling this a good take lol

jordan won't be top 2 i bet

if malones ahead of kobe then winning has nothing to do with this

I'm sure you agree that Bird / Magic aren't worthy of Top 10 distinction.

GTHOH bitch.
