TOP 5 MVP candidates
Re: TOP 5 MVP candidates
Still a lot of season left to play. Just have to wait and see how it plays out.
Re: TOP 5 MVP candidates
I'd be very surprised if Lebron wins it.
He's stepped back a half-gear since his peak, especially on defense, and there are too many mega-producers this year for him to win it.
Basically, the Clippers need to fall off (Paul), Durant and Curry need to be close enough to split the GS votes, and the Thunder need to stay out of the elite/near-elite places in the standings.
And that's not even considering borderline cases like Kawaii or even Jimmy Butler.
I think everyone knows Lebron still has the crown...it just won't be reflected in the MVP vote, much like Jordan losing to Barkley or Malone...with the real action coming in the playoffs.

Taking a break from the board. Please reference my last post for more details if you are interested.

IMO, he's always been poor at it.

Re: TOP 5 MVP candidates
Since when did Griff monkey care about the MVP award? He's always said it's just a worthless media driven award.
Could it be that's because Kobe's only won 1 and that was basically given to him as a lifetime achievement award? Everyone one knows that CP3 should have won it that year it was gifted to Kobe.
No chance KD wins it while on the super team.
Not sure if Russ or Harden can get their teams enough wins.
Comes down to Kawhi or James with James winning it and even further distancing himself from Kobe on the all-time list

well its obviously worth something regardless if nash has more than shaq/kobe/oscar/hakeem
the media ruining half of kobes legacy isn't important anymore. what matters is the media gets it right going forward
and they can give lebron 6-7-8 mvps if they want by gifting him awards whenever they feel bored... but it wont look good the minute he steps past the GOAT michael jordan in number of awards
i think if lebron fans wanna keep what little prestige is left in the trophy theyel wanna stay 1 back of jordan .... because once you make a mockery of the award by having more than the GOAT.... then jordan fans will see what kobe fans see
and its all downhill from there

How can it be "anymore" when it never began in the first place? The media isn't the one who committed rape, demanded to be traded, feuded with coaches and teammates etc...etc...Kennethgriffin wrote:Jims_Doors wrote:Since when did Griff monkey care about the MVP award? Maybe if Jordan didn't quit the league for almost 2yrs, while in his prime, he might have a few more MVP awards which would make him harder to surpass. No one to blame but himself for quitting.

Griff still clinging onto the idea that Kobe >>>> Lebron. If you just look at the way he dresses, poor Griff just has no idea how to evolve.

Re: TOP 5 MVP candidates
Jimmy Butler
26/7/4 on 49%/43%/89%
Top 3 defensive wing
5th in PER
2nd in win shares
4th seed (same record as 2nd seed)
I don't think he should or will win but he's certainly a candidate this early in the season. Especially if Demar Derozen is.

kobe should be a 6 time mvp
lebron should be a 0 time mvp
running away in the leastern conference on bullshit teams with rigged colluded teammates shouldn't win anyone any kind of regular season award
and prime kobe in the west taking his team to basically the exact same record as lebron is also worth allot more than it got credit for

Re: TOP 5 MVP candidates
Has Thomas of the Celtics been mentioned in this thread?
He's averaging 26/6. If the Celtics take off and can get the 2 seed then he could very well end up being MVP. I've been calling him a dark horse since the preseason.
