Some of the errors that happen now are because of the 24 hour news cycle and the pressure to keep eyeballs. It means a lot of stuff is not properly vetted before it's put out there.

Unfortunately, as a whole now, its meant that I believe very little of anything I read or see unless I'm invested enough to do my own real research, which is very rare. That is true of mainstream news, niche blogs, internet sites etc... The days of if Walter Cronkite said it, it must be true, are long gone.
