Nobody is going to scorch the course. If he could come in at -1 or EVEN he'd be fine.

Thomas is on a hell of a run the past 18 months.

U.S. golf has had a major uptick the past few years. Guys like Fowler, Spieth and Thomas will bolster our roster for many, many years.

BTW what the hell kind of slump is Rory going through? I heard he was having heart problems too (https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/g ... 030225001/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; )?

He was supposed to be the next "it" guy.

Spieth and possibly Thomas seem more likely to take that crown now.

I never got the "IT" vibe with him for some reason.
Maybe that was just me hoping Tiger would/will regain that crown.

I do love the story about his dad wagering he'd win a Major though when Rory was only 12/13 IIRC. Pretty Epic once that paid off.

Stuffed it to 4 feet on #9 (his 18th hole). Make it and he'll finish -1. Solid round....with a real bad unforced double on that Par 5.

GOD DAMN IT....he missed the 4 footer.

Still, EVEN par. Only 3 off the lead....and only 23 players under par at the moment.

He gave away almost 2-1/2 shots to the field on that hole. It's playing as the easiest on the course...

Just make par there and he's nearly in the lead.

Thinking the same thing. The damn par 5s. I haven't checked, but I bet it's been at least a half dozen tournaments since he's not bogeyed at least one par 5 over the course of the tournament. A double is just a killer. That's a 3 shot swing against a birdie that much of the field got.

Hopefully Tiger can avoid any big mistakes tomorrow.

I didn't get to see any of this round today, but I'm excited for the possibility that eventually he shakes the rust off.
He clearly still has the power, which was a major concern after back surgeries. His putter is starting to roll really nicely as well. Once he can find some consistency off the tee and regain distance control....

This course is playing at a major level of difficulty. Very encouraging performance. 1000 on Tiger to win a major this year? I wonder what the odds are.

Better make that bet now....before he posts like a 68 today and is in contention. With every good round....those odds will get tighter.

Seeing Tiger in the last group of the day on Sunday at the Masters wearing black/red again would be incredible.
