Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are dumber than that.

This round is a tough one for me. That 33 game win steak by the 1972 Lakers team is historic to this day. They:
- were ranked #1 off and #2 def
- finished 69-13 in the regular season
- knocked off the defending champion Milwaukee Bucks in 6
- recorded a 12-3 playoff record
That 67 Philly team was equally as impressive... being the only team to knock off the Celtics with a healthy Bill Russell.

71 Bucks.
Kareem was a beast in his Bucks years.

83 Sixers
- won 65 games in the regular season
- only one of 3 teams to lose 1 game in the postseason
- 3 All-NBA defenders on their roster
- Swept Kareem and Magic the defending champions
- 3 20+ ppg players, along with the 6th man of the year

'83 Sixers had the last two MVP winners (Malone & Dr. J), the 6th Man of the Year (Jones), 2 all-defensive first teamers (Jones & Cheeks), & 4 All-stars - beating the defending champs in a Finals rematch. Sixers went out and got the guy who owns Kareem in the playoffs (Moses is something like 7-2 against him all time) and he delivered. During the season Philly has 2 ten-plus game win streaks and came out the gates 10-1. They were 22-5 by Christmas - both marks slightly better than the 87 Lakers pace.
Re: 2017 AG Greatest NBA Teams of All-Time #4
I think from a talent perspective the 87 Lakers were the superior team. I say this because while West and Wilt were still effective they were no longer at their peak. With the 87 Lakers this could only be said of Kareem, the rest of the team - Magic/Worthy/Cooper etc were at their peak.
Re: 2017 AG Greatest NBA Teams of All-Time #4
They didn't just beat the defending champs. They beat the s*** out of them, disposing them in four games. That Milwaukee Bucks team was legit and they beat them down too.Havlicekstealsit wrote:'83 Sixers had the last two MVP winners (Malone & Dr. J), the 6th Man of the Year (Jones), 2 all-defensive first teamers (Jones & Cheeks), & 4 All-stars - beating the defending champs in a Finals rematch. 87 Lakers.
Fear is the mind killer. We are not afraid.
Re: 2017 AG Greatest NBA Teams of All-Time #4
My selection will be the 1983 Sixers.
Havs and elmerfudd made excellent points. That isn't to say that Odogg didn't for the 87 Lakers because he did. The difference between the two for me is that Philly swept a super-talented Lakers team and winning 4-1 against a 51-win Bucks team that swept Larry Bird's Celtics. Of course the Lakers can only beat who they play but again, they won three rounds in the Western Conference against what equates to as three #8 seeds. I can't remember a team in my lifetime that's had an easier road to the finals.
