Greatest DEFENSIVE plays ever...

Post by thedangerouskitchen »

So much is made about game-winning shots, but what are some of the greatest Defensive plays ever?

I nominate Jordan, for his steal on Malone in Game 6 of the 98 Finals: The Jazz have the ball with 37 seconds left, leading 86-85, when Jordan came from behind and stole the ball (with 21 seconds left). This, of course, led to MJ's legendary Finals clinching shot to give the Bulls their 6th Championship in 8 years.

What are some other legendary Defensive plays... and which would you consider THE greatest ever?

Russell chasing down West and blocking him from about 15 feet behind.

That was heartbreaking to the Pistons.

Havlicek steals the ball
Dikembe's blocks in the upset of number one seed Supersonics.
Hakeem's block outta nowhere on Starks in game 6 title game where Starks looked like he was going to seal the title for the Knicks.

I fucked it up the first time I tried too. But it appears to work now using that method.

Yeah I'd go Jordan's steal as well.

Joakim Noah's steal and AND-1 dunk on Paul Pierce back in 2009 ranks up there though.

This might qualify more as a great hustle play, but somebody already took the stolen-by-Bird-underneath-to-DJ play.

Seems like the only ones shown in montages (like during the Finals) are Bird's inbound steal and Hondo's steal. Both of those occurred in the playoffs, Hondo's steal sealing the Finals win.

The GOAT Offensive player AND (arguably) the GOAT perimeter Defender. Yeah... think about THAT, Haters!

lol

BTW... great find fp... brings back some great memories!
