Some guy on ESPN said they should trade him to PHO for expiring contracts.

If they want to improve, then maybe. He's their main attraction, and if they let him walk away for nothing this summer, it's going to be a disaster. They have no real cap space (or draft picks) until 2015. Honestly if he intends on staying in NY then he will need to sign for less. In terms of bringing in talent around him, you'll be hard-pressed finding players willing to join a ball-dominating scorer entering his 30s. And given what Melo will likely command on the market, these incoming players may have to sign for less than their market value.

Bottom line is the Knicks are between a rock and a hard place right now. Trade him for picks/players and start rebuilding again, re-up with him and financially strangle your team the next 5yrs, or let him walk away next summer for nothing.

So how did the Knicks have their best "everything" last year since the 90s? sounds like they got better.

How are the Nuggets doing with their 1st round exits? and didn't they get 3 starters and a bench player for him?

Carmelo's best teammate was an aging Chauncey Billups and they went to the WCF. He didn't have the luxury of playing in the East most of his career.

I want him to somehow end up with the Spurs if he is going to be traded.

If the knicks bomb between now and the trading deadline they might cut their losses and trade Melo for picks and/or young talent. They'd be better of doing that regardless. I'm not sure that they're willing to bite the bullet though.

Chandler, on the other hand, is gone at the deadline if they continue to bomb.
