Makes me laugh when I see guys like Chucky Bryant, LeBeta, WestBrick and Curry getting slurped to the moon by ESPN because I think, imagine how they would react if the GOAT MJ was playing in his prime today.
My O My they would probably flat-out declare him a God... then again, Larry Bird already did that, so who knows... they'd probably start a TV Channel devoted solely to Mike. It would be insane... 24/7 Jordan, all day / every day.
The fans would have loved it...!

Michael Jordan got plenty of acclaim and attention during his playing days.
More so than any other player and it wasn't remotely close. The difference is the sheer volume of outlets and around-the-clock coverage via multiple media vehicles. I was nauseated by just how much attention Jordan (and later Tiger Woods) got compared to everybody else in their sport. With more options for them to be slurped, it would be ugly today.

If I still think/talk about Kobe as often as TDK does Jordan in 15 years from now, I kindly ask that one of you find me and put a bullet in my head.

Mike was genuine, classy, articulate, educated, charming, humble, not to mention soooooo far and above his peers... people were drawn to him, he was electric... Ali, Ruth, Gretzky and Woods all rolled into one. Hell, even fans of the Bulls' biggest rivals secretly adored him. He was The Total Package.
I'm quite sure a 24/7 MJ Channel would have been an enormous success

Why would you talk about Kobe 15 years from now, fool... he's nowhere close to the GOAT.
On the contrary Jordan is STILL the measuring stick... he's STILL the guy every single player in basketball thrives to become, still THE standard, and the closest we have seen to basketball perfection... that's why he's still very much relevant today.
In 2 years Kobe will be completely forgotten by the masses.

If ESPN/TMZ was as big as it is now, we'd also have seen an OTL report about Jordan being suspended for gambling.

You really lack perspective. No one idolizes Jordan like you do outside of other Chicago fans who still live vicariously through the 90's Bulls.thedangerouskitchen wrote:Kobeunderbite wrote:If I still think/talk about Kobe as often as TDK does Jordan in 15 years from now, I kindly ask that one of you find me and put a bullet in my head.

Well at least Michael and Steph have earned it. They didn't get hyped before they played a game or had the road to their success basically paved for them.AbeVigodaLive wrote:Michael Jordan got plenty of acclaim and attention during his playing days.

Matter of fact MJ was beaten down way more than any of the players that got hyped after him and it's not even close.

Re: I didn't think it was possible for ESPN to blow someone more than LeBron
No one compares players to your chucker... they're compared to Mike, the GOAT, the man who set the bar that still today rises far, faaaaar above any player. The fact that George would "lower" his standards (and idolize Kobe) is a clear example of just how far the NBA has declined today... but make no mistake about it, any time a player has a break-out season / moment, the man he's compared to is MJ. Not Kobe.Kobeunderbite wrote:You really lack perspective.
