Pau Gasol will ‘very likely’ decline player option, set to leave Bulls?
Gasol told CSNChicago.com Wednesday night after his 26-point, 19-rebound, four-block and three-assist performance against the Denver Nuggets that it’s “very likely” he’ll opt-out of his contract this summer and test the market.
“As long as I keep playing like this,” Gasol said. “I know I’ll have some options.”

Funny how he declined more money by the Lakers in order to win. Now that he's winning again and performing well he wants more money. Shows you how bad the Lakers losing culture was that he was that desperate to leave.

He didn't really leave to win, though. If that were the case he would've steered clear of the Bulls. He left the Lakers because he was tired of being dangled as trade bait every week. Can't say I blame him, TBH.

"Money obviously wasn't the priority here," Gasol said. "I turned down bigger offers and I prioritized being on a championship-caliber team and being in a position where I can hopefully put that team over the top with my game as well. I felt that here I was going to have that opportunity, and now it's just a matter of getting to work."

Lip service, bro. Everyone knows the Bulls aren't really contenders. Lebron knocks their teeth in every post season, it's a foregone conclusion at this point. Last season was their best chance to win against him, both Kyrie AND Love were out, and the Bulls still lost lol.

He missed part of the Chicago series, I think the last 2-3 games. Then came back and pulled a Rose by getting hurt again lol

Lol he was banged up too, if I'm not mistaken. But it's a fact that the Cavs were in worse health than the Bulls that series, which was my point. Lebron and four random guys basically beat the Bulls in the PO's.

And I am still not sure "adding" Love while basically "subtracting" TT and Moz...in that specific match up automatically is a net positive for the Cavs in that series....not to mention the Cavs were an INTENTIONAL non call(Blatt T for running on court calling a TO he didn't have) from going down 3-1 in that series. That's with Gasol getting hurt in game 3 and missing the rest of the series IIRC.LakersNeedShaq wrote:Repeat3peat wrote:And Gasols condition/status in that series..?LakersNeedShaq wrote:

The spaniard probably wants to link up with Staps and Melo.

Time to play and develop Portis
Re: Pau Gasol will ‘very likely’ decline player option, set to leave Bulls?
Even if he did opt out it won't change anything. It's clear Gasol wants to play on a contender at this point. Many contending teams don't have much cap room and the Bulls will be able to offer him the most as they have his bird rights. This of course assumes he continues to play well and will be worth his increased salary demands

I like Pau but at 14/10 on 43% shooting with no defense I don't think it would be a terrible thing to let him walk if he's going to be seeking 10+ mill a yearBuckets wrote:Even if he did opt out it won't change anything. The Bulls and Pau will find a way to work things out.
Pau has a good relationship with the team and his teammates.

Pau leaves and Noah's contract is up.Titan18 wrote:I like Pau but at 14/10 on 43% shooting with no defense I don't think it would be a terrible thing to let him walk if he's going to be seeking 10+ mill a yearBuckets wrote:Even if he did opt out it won't change anything. Re: Pau Gasol will ‘very likely’ decline player option, set to leave Bulls?
True that. His production would be tough to replicate and replace at his scheduled salary but can't blame a man for want a nice final paycheck. If he did leave the Bulls would get up to about $23 mill in cap space for 2016 with Noah off the books and the cap jump. If they could trade Dunleavy $5 mill (only 1 year remaining at that point so not too big of a stretch) they could get up to $28 mill available. Can you say Durant?!Titan18 wrote:I like Pau but at 14/10 on 43% shooting with no defense I don't think it would be a terrible thing to let him walk if he's going to be seeking 10+ mill a yearBuckets wrote:Even if he did opt out it won't change anything.
