It snowed for the first time last night/this morning.

My morning commute took about 3x as long. 62 minutes. It's going to snow about 5 more inches today. My afternoon commute will be worse. 90 minutes? 2 hours?

It's amazing to me how much the weather changes from where I live to where I work. I left my house with about 2 inches of snow on the ground and the roads were super icy. I got to my work with is about 20 miles away and there's a slight dusting of snow on the ground and dry roads.

A few years ago, I left for work after a bad winter storm. Getting out of my driveway alone took about 30 minutes. Many cars in the neighborhood were stuck in the snow and had slid off the road. After trying for a good 20 minutes to get out of my neighborhood, I finally called my boss and said I would be late to work because I was going to wait for the plows to come through. He simply said, "It's not that bad up here." I felt like I had to push through. It took me an hour and a half to get to work when it normally takes about 30 minutes. We are now peers at work and I tease him about that. He tells me he felt bad about that.

I drove in at 5:30, probably spent a good 5 minutes driving halfway into the shoulder before I realized I was too far left. I then proceeded to miss my exit and lost a good 20 minutes (at least) trying to recover and get back to where I was going.

I also saw 3 pullovers/accidents

It was a total wreck for me.

I had a real lack of visibility with how snow and wipers interacted, which made everything worse. Mind you, the roads were not plowed and it was snowing somewhat heavily.

I was operating under some pretty serious constrictions. Imagine an Asian person taking off their glasses...that's more or less the situation I was working with. Messed with both squinting wise and blur-wise.

I heard my brother in law turned around on his way to work in the cities this morning. Fuck kind of weaklings live down there? I was driving all over the place a few years back when you got 17-20 inches and the dome collapsed. I didn't turn around like some cuck over a few inches.
