The answer here should be McHale or Durant.
I'll stick with McHale.
If Gervin gets voted in you guys are idiots and someone will need to frame an argument for him getting in over KD or even a guy like Nique.

I vote McHale.
One of the most baffling low-post players to guard, an efficient scorer in the extreme, with very good defense (if somewhat modest rebounding).
Note that when Bird missed an entire season, McHale's production (at an old age and with some injury) was still 22/9/all-NBA defense, at 55 percent shooting.
He also shot ~90 percent from the line one year.

Taking a break from the board. Please reference my last post for more details if you are interested.

Gervin won't get in here but definitely is worthy of being in the conversation.Robceltsfan wrote:The answer here should be McHale or Durant.

A Gervin/Nique conversation needs to be had.....and in my opinion Durant is ahead of both of them even in his short career.

There is zero question in my mind that Durant craps on Gervin in terms of peak performance.
Nique vs. Gervin is potentially more interesting.
Of course, peak Durant LOLing at peak Gervin doesn't automatically mean Durant should go over Gervin in a career-based list, but it definitely requires tangible things that overcome that peak difference.
I'm not precisely sure what that would be in this case.

Almost feels superfluous here, but McHale.

Gervin over Nique is a very easy choice for me.Robceltsfan wrote:y2ktors wrote:Gervin won't get in here but definitely is worthy of being in the conversation.Robceltsfan wrote:The answer here should be McHale or Durant.

Here is a discussion point:
Where does Robert Parish rank, considering we are about to appoint Kevin McHale to a top 25 spot?
We don't seem to talk about Parish much, but generally talk up McHale to death.
But is there really *that* much of a difference?
McHale was a half-tier to a tier above Parish as a scorer it seems, but most due to volume, as Parish generally scored in the high teens with extreme efficiency, relatively similarily to McHale, especially when you consider their respective ages. In 1989 (no Bird), Parish put up 19 a game on 57 percent shooting to McHale's 23 on 55 percent shooting.
Parish was clearly the superior rebounder, by a non-trivial amount. I would rate them roughly equivalent defensively (in fact, Bird in one of his books said Parish was the "leader of the defense").
Parish has more length to his career. McHale has more general hardware, but I think some of that is due to varying levels of competition at their respective positions.
So what makes McHale *that* much better than Parish for this list?

McHale this round. KD isn't quite as accomplished at this point in the comparison to McHale. I'm going with McHale.

Please, explain. I see them as virtual equals AT BEST for Gervin, but I'm open to some convincing.

The fact that McHale was a dominant offense force and Parish was a pretty good offensive player.Bush4Ever wrote:Here is a discussion point:

Re: 2015 Anger General Greatest post-merger Players of All Time #24
I think McHale is far, far ahead of Parish in the offense department. McHale's stats markedly increased as the #1 option when Bird was down. Parish never warranted a lead dog offensive status, nor did he ever openly show that he could be the leading offensive force on an NBA team.
