I don't think the issue is that there aren't delightful pit bulls. The issue is that when things go south, the consequences are devastating.

Stars posted a link a few days ago where something like 65% or so of all fatal dog attacks in America were done by pit bulls.

I don't recall any debate I've ever had about Pit Bulls on this board (I'm not definitively saying it never happened, just that I don't recall it).

Certain breeds do have certain tendencies naturally (my Golden loves swimming; my German Shepherd mix is a sweetheart but doesn't like strangers, etc.). That said, I am more of a "nurture" than "nature" guy when it comes to dog breeds.

Here's how you fix the Pit Bull problem (and it is a problem, as animal shelters are stockpiled with Pit mixes people don't want because of their reputation and the fact that they don't know the history of the animal): if you want to breed your Pit Bull, the license costs 10k. If you're caught breeding or cross breeding your Pit w/o a license, the fine is 5K.

Dog breed purists can still breed full blooded red and blue nose Pits; Fucktards who don't give a shit about their animals and just want "tough dogs" stop letting their neglected and abused Pits breed recklessly because it hits them where it hurts-- their wallets.

Everyone wins...the dogs included.

Wailua and I weren't arguing against the strength of the pitbull but more so that they aren't any more.aggressive than other breeds, less aggressive in some cases.
