Can we get notifications hooked up on this board?

I'm trying to figure it out. When I have spare time at work I'll see what else I can find, but it's going to be tough because of the differences in phpBB compared to ProBoards. I talked about it a little here:

Here's what I said:

Well, due to the board structure/how databases are handled, it's going to be somewhat difficult to implement.

Now, there are a couple of things we can do. This seems to be the closest thing available:

though it's a little old, I'm not sure if it's still valid. There's also this one:

I think the best bet for now is to manually subscribe to topics you're interested in. I will implement the tagging feature in time if you guys want as well.

I'll try and figure out if there's another way to do it. I liked the feature, so it's definitely one I want to bring over to this board.
