Shaq's peak as a player is arguably the greatest in NBA history. Not everyone on the top-10 list can claim that they had it in them to become the greatest ever, but Shaquille certainly did. It's a testament to how good he was that despite his questionable work ethic he is ranked this highly.

Shaq never led the league in rebounding once. Not even once. At 7'1" and 325lbs. That ain't dominance. Wilt in comparison averaged 24.5 for his entire career.
He shot over 60% on FT just once. That ain't dominance. To be fair, pretty close to Wilt.
He never averaged even 4 assist per game, while getting as many touches as he did. In comparison, Wilt led the entire league in assists one year.

From 1993-99, 7 seasons, Shaq only made 1 All-nba first team. That's the best competition that he had amongst his fellow peers at the position and he was only top center once.

Hell even the 1 season that he was first team, Hakeem Missed 35 Games and D-Rob was back but sharing the load with rookie Duncan and Ewing wad lost for the season in December of 1997.

Basically, I'm saying that his overall resume doesn't quite scream "Potential GOAT" to me.

To be fair to Shaquille, not only was he going up the toughest All-NBA competition ever at Center, but you're talking about a stretch when he was 21-26 years old, and certainly pre-prime. Additionally, I think that Shaquille certainly had a big case for 1st team in 1994-96, when you look at the statistics:

1994-95
Robinson: 27.6/10.8/2.9/3.3, 53%
O'Neal: 29.3/11.4/2.7/2.4, 58%

1995-96
Robinson: 25.0/12.2/3.0/3.3, 51%
O'Neal: 26.6/11.0/2.9/2.1, 57%

Now, obviously there are other variables to consider, but my point is to illustrate the fact that just because Shaquille only made 1 All-NBA 1st team in that stretch, does not mean that he was necessarily only the best C in the NBA for 1 of those seasons. There wasn't really a bad pick at Center in most of those years.
