Nobody will notice, because it's the Raptors vs. the Kings... but this is terrible. No other way to describe it.
Just terrible.

[Note: Compounding it by kicking Lowry out of the game... not good. But the NBA will simply admit the officials were wrong (maybe) and absolutely no other repercussions will happen to Mike Scott and the officials.]

Also, the offensive foul (which was a bad call) came after the shot was released, so, shouldn't the basket have counted even if the ref made that bad call?

How does D. Casey not lose his shit right there?
I'm a very laid back guy, and I have no interest in the Raptors, but even I felt SOMETHING watching it. The game is over at that point (25 sec left, down 6, essentially 3 free throws coming up for the Kings...)
I don't see how I wouldn't go apeshit crazy right there.

Basketball is a brutally difficult game to officiate. Hardest of all the major sports by a mile.
Having said that, that call was not a hard one and was a 100% total botch job exacerbated by the technical. Just awful.

I expect the league to "look into it" and provide the correct corrective action to ensure the legitimacy and integrity of the game going forward.

That was brutal to watch.
Officials who react on impulse and emotion have no business being employed as an NBA official, or any other official. Some may call it an isolated slip up by the ref excused by the "we're all human defense", I see it as an underlying ever present character flaw that should exempt him from a position held that requires unconditional subjectivity with zero tolerance for error. Any breach, should either result in permanent removal, or a crippling enough fallout that would insure it doesn't happen again. Bad calls are part of the game, we live with that. But the technical, completely unacceptable no matter how the NBA tries to spin it.

Superstar players and marquee teams almost always get those calls. That's how the NBA does things.
That's why teams like the Lakers, Heat, Kings win so many close games...
I'm sick of it. No way should Sacramento get favorable officiating just because it's a prime NBA location.
