Jokić has so normalized ridiculous that it has desensitized us from appropriate reverence.

Post by _Vcsgrizzfan_ »

From the Athletic:

"Jokić has so normalized ridiculousness as to desensitize the present community from appropriate reverence." Also from that article.

"The future won’t believe us about Jokić."

"But Jokić, an almost 7-footer with obscured athleticism, is unguardable. He’s the best and most creative passer in the league, thanks largely to an elite IQ, and yet he tempers his brilliance with his nonchalance. He shoots better than most guards, runs the point in clutch situations and somehow is even better in the paint than a traditional back-to-the-basket center."

Hopefully this isn't too triggering for some of our posters wed to earlier eras.

Sounds like something Bill Walton would say.

And he'd be right

Nope, it makes him a Harlem Globetrotter, but a honky.

He’s Mike Trout. A generational talent playing for a penny-pinching, ego driven front office.
This article has some good insight:

He became the first player in NBA history to be top 3 in points, rebounds, assists and steals.

He shot 58% from the field, 42% from deep (and that includes over twenty beyond half court heaves) .

You can't do that playing a freaking video game.

In fairness though, the entire Modern Era resembles the Harlem Globetrotters so we really can't hold that against Joker, as he's merely a product of the rules and style of today's game.

Exactly... and the defense for Joker is that he (allegedly) doesn't have a good enough supporting cast to win it all EVEN THOUGH he's got the exact same core around him as he did when he won the Championship just two (2) short seasons ago.

Once Jordan got a solid supporting cast around him he inspired them to greatness and never looked back.

Joker... not so much. Just another "empty stat" guy in a Modern Era that is LOADED with empty-stat guys.

Do video games keep track of Defense? Oh wait, that's right... Defense is only relevant when it comes to Bill Russell.

I hadn't seen that. It is a really good piece. At least, unlike The Twolves with KG, the Nuggets managed to win one ring despite themselves. But overall, it really is tragic how little that front office has done to maximize having the best player on the planet.

Personally, I think in the offseason they should trade several players. Their stats are inflated playing with Joker and you could get pretty decent returns and then the guys you get back benefit from the Jokic effect.

I'm think a bit like the Aaron Gordon trade with Orlando. Gordon had been a decent player, averaging low teens or so in points but on 45% shooting. The "Jokic effect" instantly turned him into a guy shooting almost 55% from the field. He's done that with a number of guys. Maybe send Murray to Toronto and you get back a few guys who can play way more efficiently with Jokic. Toronto gets their home grown superstar, and the Nuggets get more depth and maybe some wing defenders. They've pretty much let every decent wing defender go in the last few years, including KCP and Brown.

Just a clown organization.

it’s pretty comical how posters like grizz are all up on his nuts with only 1 championship basically doing what toni kukoc would do with more usage rate.
