It's boring to repeat the same points, but Michael Adams average 26+ a season, Reggie Miller was routinely in the low 20s, Dale Ellis was near the mid 20s for a few seasons, etc...
Steph is the GOAT shooter, and also a 98th/99th percentile ball-handler. That translates to any era, period.

The notion he'd score less in prior eras is freaking retarded. Period.

Those guys mentioned above grew up playing when the game had more physicality in it.Bush4Ever. wrote: ↑Wed Apr 02, 2025 7:09 pm It's boring to repeat the same points, but Michael Adams average 26+ a season, Reggie Miller was routinely in the low 20s, Dale Ellis was near the mid 20s for a few seasons, etc...

We've seen steph play when the game gets more physical and the pace of the game is grinding. He is not the same player. But I think it's a little ridiculous to think that his scoring with plummet.

Good point... and we've seen the same "different player" with LeBron and others (in addition to Steph) when the game gets more physical because it's a fact that it's tougher to execute/shoot/score in a slower-paced, grinding physical style with less spacing vs. a wide-open, no-contact style.Y2K wrote: ↑Wed Apr 02, 2025 10:43 pmThose guys mentioned above grew up playing when the game had more physicality in it.Bush4Ever. wrote: ↑Wed Apr 02, 2025 7:09 pm It's boring to repeat the same points, but Michael Adams average 26+ a season, Reggie Miller was routinely in the low 20s, Dale Ellis was near the mid 20s for a few seasons, etc...

You don't post very often, so maybe you don't realize there's a handful of posters on the board who will vehemently disagree with you about the game being more physical back in the day. They'll say you're just a Hater of the Modern Era living in your Glory Days because, according to them, there was no more physicality back then vs. today (lolol)... hell some of these geniuses will even argue the game was LESS physical back then (lol), while others will tell you even if physicality existed it had no impact whatsoever on the style/pace/scoring of the game. They will also tell you that Giannis would score 250 points a game and Steph would average 85% from long-range if they played back then because Defense, they say, is so much tougher and better today.
NOTE to the BWGC: Did I cover all of your ridiculous assertions, or did I forget some nonsense? Please advise.

The guy on the left started 556 games in the era you're talking about.

THIS guy averaged 26.5/10.5 in 1990-91.
5'10" - 160 LBS

According to TDK, 6'9" 260 LB Lebron James would struggle in the early 90's cuz rough-and-tumble-hand-check-and-shit.....but 5'10" 160 LB Michael Adams was dropping All-star type numbers.
Makes perfect sense to me!

He never did anything close to that outside of that one season under Paul Westhead.Robceltsfan wrote: ↑Thu Apr 03, 2025 10:05 am THIS guy averaged 26.5/10.5 in 1990-91.

As Manchild said, nostalgia is a disease. It grabs those afflicted and gives them incredible cases of "denial". In an era where the 3 point line was barely guarded, a guy who is the best shooter in history off the dribble and has better handles than anyone who played in those earlier eras is going to struggle. How freaking retarded.

The fact that you equate size to one's skill/ability to hoop just confirms how clueless you are... I mean, do you really need to be reminded that your hero LeFraud got utterly humiliated and embarrassed in the Finals by 5'10" JJ Barea??Robceltsfan wrote: ↑Thu Apr 03, 2025 10:05 am THIS guy averaged 26.5/10.5 in 1990-91.

As for Michael Adams, it should be noted that he played on the super-fast paced, high-octained/zero Defense Nuggets that year. In other words, Modern Era style... so it stands to reason he would dominate today's game.

What players in the 80s and 90s got hurt from abnormally aggressive basketball plays?
Isiah from Karl Malone is the only one I remember that was outside the usual flow of injuries in NBA ball
Hakeem and Bird lost time from eye things and stray elbows I guess, but I don’t think they were malicious.
Magic and Jordan didn’t lose much time at all during that period…why weren’t they targeted?

It should also be noted that those high-octaine, fast-paced Offense / zero-Defense Nuggets of 90-91 finished with a 20-62 record... put them in today's Modern Era (where almost every team features high octaine Offense and weak/soft Defense) and those Nuggets are a contender for the Championship.

So the Bad Boys (and early 90's Knicks, who adopted Detroit's physical/thug-like style) didn't target Jordan?Bush4Ever. wrote: ↑Thu Apr 03, 2025 1:08 pm What players in the 80s and 90s got hurt from abnormally aggressive basketball plays?

"If Michael was at the point, we forced him left and doubled him. If he was on the left wing, we went immediately to a double team from the top. If he was on the right wing, we went to a slow double team. He could hurt you equally from either wing—hell, he could hurt you from the hot-dog stand—but we just wanted to vary the look. And if he was on the box, we doubled with a big guy. The other rule was, any time he went by you, you had to nail him. If he was coming off a screen, nail him. We didn't want to be dirty—I know some people thought we were—but we had to make contact and be very physical." - Chuck Daly
Just stop already bush... you're trying too hard to pretend like you have a clue about 80's-90's ball, and you're just embarrassing yourself.
