My dog adopted a goat?

Just got home from work and found my dog playing with a goat in my yard. I have a fenced in yard so have no idea how it got in here and he’s being really protective of it. None of my neighbors have goats so not sure who to try to give it back to. Do I own a goat now or what should I do with it?

We’re actually thinking about buying a goat. My oldest daughter is in Future Farmers of America as an elective for school and one of the requirements is to raise an animal, and we’re gonna try a goat. If it goes well we might buy one as a pet. The one she’ll be raising for FFA will be for slaughter.

We have a new puppy and she and the cat have become play buddies. Pretty funny to watch them romp around. The cat thinks she’s one of the dogs anyway.

I will say this about goats - avoid the males. They tend to want to fight for dominance, and they stink. A LOT.
